Amy Brower

Owner

Amy has always loved math and helping kids and started her life with Mathnasium as an instructor in Georgia. She saw how Mathnasium made math make sense for kids in a fun and engaging way, which inspired her to open her own center in Leesburg, Virginia. Amy believes that Mathnasium can change children's attitudes toward math, help develop a deep understanding of "number sense" and improve problem solving skills; she believes growing math confidence in young students is essential in their academic growth. The center has been open for 8 years and Amy's favorite part of owning the center is seeing the success and confidence of her students and instructors grow over time. In Amy's previous career she worked in advertising agencies. She is an empty nester, with four daughters, three are in STEM related fields and the one is still in college. In her free time, Amy enjoys reading, cooking, fly fishing and playing golf with her husband Jeff and is learning to play pickleball!

Andrew

Lead Instructor

Andrew has always loved Math; he has worked for Mathnasium for eight years and loved every minute of it. Some of Andrew's favorite moments are when he is explaining a difficult, or interesting, concept and seeing a students eyes light up with a look of "aha" once it all starts to make sense. Andrew enjoys a good puzzle, riddle and anything science fiction; his favorite riddle is, of course, a good math riddle.

Nanci Buck

Instructor

Nanci likes solving puzzles, seeing patterns, playing games, and seeing students become more comfortable with their math skills! She has worked for Mathnasium for 8 years and has seen our methods enable students to enhance their math knowledge and to make them genuinely confident in math! Nanci cherishes her family: she has been married to Dennis for 33 years and they have three adult children! She homeschooled her children for 23 years. Shei enjoys cooking, traveling, walking, reading, and any gathering with her family and friends!

Michael

Online Instructor

Michael is senior at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He has tutored math for as long as he can remember, so working with others to bridge their interests with their studies is always fun. Michael is also a huge fan of Star Wars, a gamer, and a tennis player.

Arun

Instructor

Arun is currently a junior in high school; he has always enjoyed learning and using different math skills, whether it is in school, in competitions, or even in everyday life. Arun saw the opportunity to work at Mathnasium as an opportunity to teach others about math. When not working on math, Arun likes to cook, play golf, and practice the piano.

Pushti

Instructor

Pushti is a senior at Heritage High School; she loves being a Mathnasium instructor and helping students to understand math! One of Pushti's favorite parts about Mathnasium is the fun and engaging environment. In Pushti's free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends, volunteering, and biking. Pushti was a Mathnasium student at one time and she was the PEMDAS queen; if you don't know about PEMDAS, ask your middle schooler.

Nick

Instructor

Nick is currently a senior at Heritage High School and the Academy of Science. He loves helping his friends and peers with math, and he extends that same love to Mathnasium. He believes there is more to math than just formulas and shapes, and he strives to instill a mathematical passion in everybody. Outside of Mathnasium, Nick enjoys hanging out with his friends and playing football.

Jill

Instructor

Jill is a student at Loudoun County High School and enjoys math a lot. She loves working with kids and helping them succeed in math. Her favorite thing about working with kids is seeing their reactions after they do something they didn’t think they could. When she has free time, she loves to hang out with friends or her dog.

Rohan

Instructor

Rohan became interested in math at a young age while watching his brothers complete problems. Rohan enjoys math because of the real world applications. Mathnasium has a special method of keeping students engaged and wanting to continue learning (Rohan should know, he was one of our students). Seeing the Mathnasium method work so well has made Rohan want to help strengthen other students' skills.

Janae

Instructor

Janae is currently attending Heritage High School and the Academy of Engineering and Technology; in the future, Janae plans to pursue a career in the field of STEM, and she hopes to inspire students to do the same.

Shawn

Calculus and Up Instructor

Shawn is a UC Davis alumnus, where he studied Mathematical Physics. He enjoys helping his students build and discover their own mathematical intuition while unlocking new problems and ideas. In his free time, Shawn enjoys reading science fiction and fantasy, vernacular jazz dance, and cooking.

Our Mathnasium Mission
