Word Problem Wednesday: Campfire Math

May 25, 2017 | Burlingame

What do you like to do over summer vacation?

We think summer vacations are perfect for swimming at the beach, riding extra-tall rollercoasters and laying in the grass as clouds roll by. One of our favorite activities is going camping—and everyone knows that the best part about camping... is the campfire!!  This week’s camp-themed word problem is hot enough to toast marshmallows! So go on and give it a try--and don’t forget to check back tomorrow for the solution.

Brandon finds 4 pounds and 8 ounces of wood for a campfire. Emma finds 5 pounds and 11 ounces. Luis finds 9 pounds and 3 ounces. How much campfire wood do they have in total?
