At Mathnasium of Carson, we focus on building deep math understanding and mastery over time, so students aren't cramming at the last minute before each test.
Every student begins with a diagnostic assessment that helps us identify their current skills and any knowledge gaps. From there, our specially trained tutors follow a personalized learning plan during every session, reinforcing what students are learning in school, closing foundational gaps, and developing the problem-solving skills that serve them on quizzes, midterms, and finals alike.
Our tutors work with students across any K-12 math class, from elementary math through Precalculus and beyond. When a major exam is approaching, we can align instruction with the specific topics and concepts it will cover, so students feel confident walking in.
Yes! Mathnasium of Carson prepares students for the math portions of the CAASPP.
Our tutors understand the California Common Core State Standards for Mathematics the exam is based on, ensuring students have a solid grasp of the grade-level concepts they'll encounter on test day. After a diagnostic assessment identifies each student's knowledge gaps, we build a personalized learning plan focused on the grade-level skills and concepts they need to meet and exceed grade-level expectations.
As early as possible. The CAASPP measures cumulative math knowledge built over the course of the school year, which means students who build their skills consistently are far better positioned than those who begin preparing at the last minute.
Starting at the beginning of the school year gives our tutors the time needed to identify gaps, reinforce foundational concepts, and ensure students are on track well ahead of the exam. If your student is already closer to the test date, reach out and we'll put together a focused plan with the time they have.
Yes! Mathnasium of Carson prepares high school students for the math sections of the SAT®, PSAT®, and ACT®.
Our specially trained tutors use proprietary test prep materials and personalized learning plans to build the content knowledge and problem-solving strategies students need to perform their best on test day. Whether your student is taking the exam for the first time or looking to improve their score, we tailor preparation to their current skill level and target goals.
Earlier is always better, and we generally recommend beginning at least three to six months before the exam date.
College admissions math tests cover a broad range of topics, from algebra and data analysis to geometry and, on the ACT®, trigonometry. Students who begin preparation early have time to work through knowledge gaps, build fluency with exam-style problems, and develop the confidence that comes from sustained practice.
For students with significant foundational gaps, starting in middle school or early high school gives them the best possible footing heading into test prep. If the exam is coming up sooner, reach out to Mathnasium of Carson and we'll build a focused plan around your student's timeline.
Math test prep at Mathnasium of Carson is offered as part of a flat monthly membership fee. Pricing depends on your student's individual learning plan and session schedule.
For specific pricing information, please contact our center directly. We're happy to walk you through the options and find a plan that fits your student's goals and your family's needs.
The number of sessions depends on your student's current skill level, the exam they're preparing for, and how much time is available before test day.
As a general guide, most students preparing for a major exam such as the SAT®, PSAT®, or ACT® attend two sessions per week over three to six months. For state assessments or classroom exams, the timeline may be shorter, depending on the student's starting point and goals.
After the diagnostic assessment, we'll have a clear picture of what your student needs and can recommend a session schedule that gives them the best chance of success.
Yes! Students can join live, face-to-face online sessions with our specially trained Carson tutors and follow the same personalized learning plan as they would in the center.
Not at all. Online students at Mathnasium of Carson follow the same personalized learning plan and work with the same specially trained Carson tutors through live, face-to-face sessions. Families often combine in-center and online attendance to get the flexibility that works best around their schedule and their student's exam timeline.
