The Math Kangaroo is just around the corner!
Unlike standard school tests that focus on memorization, this competition celebrates “mathematical gymnastics” – logic, strategy, and creative problem solving. At Mathnasium, we love this contest because it proves that math is a puzzle meant to be enjoyed.

If your student is gearing up for the big day, here are three essential strategies to help them leap to the top of the standings:

• Master the “Kangaroo Logic”

Math Kangaroo questions are famously wordy and visual. They often use “logic puzzles” disguised as math problems. Encourage your child to draw a picture or model the problem. Visualizing the data helps bridge the gap between a complex sentence and a simple solution.

The competition is divided into sections with varying point values:
