Optimizing Your Student's Fall Break with Math Tutoring

Hooray, it's fall break! And while students may be rejoicing in the chance to sleep in, is it in their best interest to give them a total break? Whether your student is in first grade or fifth grade, or even in high school, we all tend to forget things when we take a break. Even a break for a couple weeks can result in forgetting some of the material we've covered already this year, or what we learned last year, and set us behind when we return to school in October. For some of our students who were already excelling before we went on break, a full break won't set them too far off track, but if we were already falling behind or struggling before we went on break, we often come back struggling even more than when we left for fall break, and if we're coming back from a total break from school, looking for math tutoring and math help and getting caught up with our classes can be even more difficult, especially in math.

Did you know?

It can take up to 2 months from the 1st day of school for a student’s brain development to get back on track.

"So what can we do with fall break then? We can't go to school, so how do we avoid falling behind?"

Keeping your student engaged in their learning during fall break is easier and more flexible than you think, even for math, and believe it or not, isn't as much of a chore or time investment as you would think! Fall break is a time when a lot of students find themselves slacking off or falling more behind, but on the other hand it is also the perfect time to get caught up or get ahead! Fall break means a break from school and assignments, as well as our extracurriculars like sports practice, which frees up student schedules to be studying to get caught up or get ahead, and here at Mathnasium, we also offer flexible plans to ensure your student's needs are being met on any schedule; we specialize in not just filling any gaps they may have from past math, but also getting them ahead. Is your student in high school? More free time also means they can be working on their SAT and ACT study skills, and we are more than happy to provide SAT and ACT test prep!
