We know that behind every student’s success is a dedicated teacher who helped guide the way. As we get ready to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week (the first full week of May), we’re taking this opportunity to give a heartfelt thanks to the educators who go the extra mile every single day.
At Mathnasium, our work doesn’t happen in a vacuum. We regularly collaborate with classroom teachers to stay aligned with your child’s learning needs. By communicating with them and understanding classroom goals, we’re able to fill in gaps, strengthen math understanding, and create a smoother academic journey.
Over the past few years, we've watched teachers adapt, innovate, and rise to every challenge—from digital classrooms to new learning models—and we are constantly inspired by their commitment.
Our team has been reflecting on the teachers who shaped their lives—and we’d love to share a few of those stories with you:
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The teacher who had a biggest impact in my life is Jim Gauley, my math teacher at Heritage Christian School. He gave me the love of math I have today. He invested his time and care in me and treated me as an equal person. I will never forget his kindness and the joy he brought to my life!

My favorite teacher is Donald Steingruby, who taught me Calculus at Saint Louis University High School. Mr. Steingruby was always so passionate about Calculus 2 and made class fun, despite teaching hard material. His attitude made me more willing to put in the work for the class. Something that always stuck out to me was how he would say "boom" when finishing a hard problem or teaching us something new that blew our minds.

This Teacher Appreciation Week, let’s all take a moment to recognize the hardworking, compassionate educators who make a lasting difference in our communities. Whether it’s a note, a nomination, or a simple “thank you,” every bit of appreciation matters.
To all the amazing teachers out there: we see you, we support you, and we are so grateful for the impact you make every day.
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week from all of us at Mathnasium!
