Is Mathnasium a Remedial Math Center or for Advanced Students?

Both!  Mathnasium of Countryside's team of expert math instructors is your solution for math tutoring, advanced math enrichment, math homework help, and math test prep for elementary school, middle school, high school, and home school students.

If my child loves math and is looking to dive deeper in their education, do you have the ability to help?

Our superior concept-based curriculum helps gifted and advanced students with math enrichment throughout the school year and during the summer. Children who are working ahead and above grade level, or those studying for the DukeTIP or Stanford EPGY programs benefit from Mathnasium of Countryside's customized learning plans, putting students on the path to growing their problem-solving skills, critical thinking abilities and love for the subject.

My child needs math tutoring assistance to catch up and keep up in the classroom and help with homework. Is Mathnasium right for us?

Mathnasium of Countryside's learning plans are customized to each student and taught by our team of instructors and math tutors empowered to inspire and excite. Student's are not a commodity and we do not take a one-size fits all approach. We know your child is unique and they deserve a unique learning plan to address their personal math foundation gaps. We then teach math in a way that makes sense to them. Working with our math instructors at our Countryside math learning center on tutoring, math homework and test prep help leads to greater confidence and abilities in math.

How do I get my student started at Mathnasium?

Our program is designed to meet the individual student’s current ability and learning style, and then build a custom learning plan specific to the student.  It's not a one size fits all approach.

The first step in our enrollment process is to do a math assessment with each student. This assessment gives us insight about the student's strengths or gaps in their math abilities. From there, we are able to create a customized curriculum for the student based on their abilities and math goals.  There is no cost for the assessment. It's just a matter of taking a look at our calendar and scheduling it.

Once the free math assessment is completed, what comes next?

Becoming a member at Mathnasium of Countryside is both flexible and easy.  You can initiate your membership at any time and immediately begin benefitting from the Mathnasium experience without being locked into a long-term contract. We have several membership options to fit your schedule and objectives.

When can my child come to Mathnasium of Countryside and how often each week?

Joining the Mathnasium of Countryside family is flexible and easy.  And, we make coming in for sessions as stress-free as possible with our Flexible Drop-In approach.  Most students attend 2 to 3 times per week, and you do not need to schedule your time. Students can simply come in during our instruction windows at a time that is convenient to them.

Session Length:  60 minutes

Our hours are:

  • Monday – Thursday: from 3:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday: from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Is the math tutoring 1 on 1?

Yes. With each student having an individual learning plan, and individual learning style, our instructors are teaching each student individually.  During a child’s one on one math tutoring at Mathnasium of Countryside, the instructor is going to actively teach the math and review math subjects with the student.  Students will then spend some time practicing the concepts, with close supervision.  This gives them the time to process this new math information without the pressure and stress of being watched. It also prevents a "learned helplessness" where the student feels that they need the instructor sitting in front of them all the time in order to be successful.  Afterall, we can't be there for their math tests!

Student progress is carefully watched.  If we find they are making an error, we are able to step in before it becomes a habit and reteach the concept using a different method until the student truly shows an understanding of it.  This helps your child to become a confident, independent learner.

Tell me more about Mathnasium's customized learning plans and teaching approach?

The Mathnasium Method has been developed over many years and it's rooted in best practices of math instruction and teaching math in a way that makes sense to kids through a unique combination of mental, verbal, visual, tactile, and written exercises.

Where does Mathnasium fit in the conversation of Florida Standards Assessments (FSA), End of Course (EOC) exams, Common Core, and other standardized testing and college entrance tests?

It's important to remember, all of these are simply standards that measure math ability. It's not new math or new math concepts. The Mathnasium curriculum and methods do more than just meet state math standards, they surpass the recommendations of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Common Core standards.

Does the Mathnasium of Countryside team get results?

We make math learning fun. We make math less intimidating.  We improve problem solving skills and build self confidence.  We have a proven track record of helping our students grow their math abilities.  But don't take our word for it, we ask you to see what families are saying about us.  You can read their feedback here.

Students don’t need to be “wired” for math, they just need the right instruction. People can accomplish marvelous things when they do the right things, in the right way, with the right tools.

Our belief in each child’s potential, and our devotion to helping them achieve it, creates opportunities. Opportunity to find understanding in the classroom. Opportunity to explore chosen career fields. Opportunity to succeed and achieve.
