Why hoping "my child will have a better teacher next year" doesn't work

Jun 2, 2021 | Destin

Okay, folks.  We're starting this blog out with a disclaimer: Mathnasium supports schools & teachers.  We root for them.  We work hand-in-hand with them.

Now...

What to do if your child had a poor experience with their math teacher this school year?  After all, not every math teacher has an equal track record.  Maybe it was their first year teaching (see why experienced teachers are more effective here).  Perhaps the way they taught math did not match your child's learning style.

First things first, let's put one fallacy to bed.  The hope that next school year your child will be matched with a better math teacher who will fix the problems from the preceding school year is not realistic, and here's why:

NEXT YEAR'S MATH TEACHER WILL BE TEACHING NEXT YEAR'S CURRICULUM.

Your child's math struggles from last school year will not be the focus of next school year.

So, what's the solution?

This is where finding an effective summer math program for your child comes into play.

Summer is the perfect time for students to heal the math wounds stockpiled from the school year, because there is no other math agenda being thrown at them.  Summer allows your child to focus in on the skills they desperately need to strengthen before a new school year, new math teacher and new math concepts are introduced.

Let's get specific: What does Mathnasium of Destin have in store for math students in our community this summer?

Summer Math

Use summer productively--it's a gift the school year can't offer!  Mathnasium of Destin will make the difference between your child having a successful math year or not.  We've done it before and would be honored to do the same for your student!
