Summer has officially started! However, with the current COVID-19 pandemic and schools being closed, it may have felt like summer had started months ago. Whether you had live, on-line instruction from your schools or just packets of homework, the educational process for our children has been very different. Students usually lose between 2-3 months of learning over the summer as they are away from classroom teaching. With COVID-19, this could be twice as bad.

In a recent survey of epidemiologists, the New York Times found that 70% of these doctors say they are ready to send their children back to school, camp, or childcare. Parents face some very important decisions when it comes to their children’s education. Deciding on summer educational programs as well as returning to the classroom this Fall, these decisions will be very important when it comes to what is best for our children.
Doctors, as well as experts, know the importance of school not only for their child’s development but also for their own careers. They are willing to take a risk because the value of their children’s lives is very valuable. Now the risks need to be evaluated and calculated.  Decisions are based on how places of education is dealing and adapting to the current pandemic. Factors that parents are taking into consideration are regional data, safety measure schools and centers are taking, personal family risks, work demands, and their children’s academic, social and emotional lives.
