Thanksgiving is celebrated every year on the fourth Thursday of November to give thanks to all good things and be with our family. Thanksgiving is celebrated widely throughout the United States and Canada. Thanksgiving is celebrated by getting together with family and loved ones to have a big meal. Many cities will have parades to celebrate Thanksgiving. Traditional food for Thanksgiving is turkey, cranberry sauce, potatoes, sweet potato casserole, stuffing, vegetables, and pumpkin pie.

The tradition of Thanksgiving started with Pilgrims who settled at Plymouth, Massachusetts.Their first celebration was in 1621. The first time they called the feast "Thanksgiving" was in 1623, after rain had ended a long drought. Thanksgiving didn’t become a regular holiday until 1863. Thanksgiving has been celebrated every fourth Thursday of November since then.
