How to Boost your Final Grades

May 19, 2021 | Granite Bay

The school year is drawing to a close and everyone is looking forward to summer vacation. For some, passing a test or class is on their mind. At some point, there is an assignment, test, or quiz that many students wish they could retake. Just one mix up and your grade could be suffering. It’s never too late to help boost your grades. Here are some tips to help get that little grade bump before the school year ends.

  • Be positive!
    • When grades are lower than hoped it is easy to feel down. Don’t give up and take positive steps toward your goals.
  • Figure out where you are and where you need to be.
    • What are you struggling in most?
    • Are there any assignments you can make up?
    • Make a list of all your classes, what needs to be done for each class, and all deadlines for assignments and tests.
  • Talk with your teachers.
    • Ask your teachers for any advice on how you can improve your grades. Sometimes teachers will offer extra credit assignments or will allow you to turn in any late or missing assignments.
    • Ask for help as soon as you are having any trouble. The sooner you ask for help, the more your teacher is able to help out!
  • Get organized.
    • Make a schedule of all you have to do and assign yourself some time to study.
    • Try not to schedule large amounts of time to one topic unless necessary.
    • Don’t forget to reward yourself along the way! Remember to save the big rewards for after the school year is done!
  • Buckle down
    • Stick to your plan.
    • Avoid getting distracted while studying. Turn off any electronics and don’t listen to music with lyrics.
  • Enroll in the Mathnasium summer program!
    • Come to Mathnasium over the summer to get caught up or stay ahead for the next school year!
    • Tell your friends to come along for a math filled summer!
