This summer and upcoming school year, many of our Mathnasium students in grades 9 - 11 will take the PSAT. But what is the PSAT and why is it so important? The SAT and ACT are two critical exams looked over by colleges and universities, to determine eligibility for admission in terms of reading, writing, and math skills.
The Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test is co-sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation in the United States. Approximately 3.5 million students take the PSAT/NMSQT each year. Students who score exceptionally on their PSAT are eligible for more than $2,000 of scholarships when they graduate from high school and go to university.
This summer, we want to utilize this time to prepare your student not only for the upcoming school year but also for these upcoming tests. Here at Mathnasium, we acknowledge that Math is half of the SAT, so we aim to have our students master their math skills with us using our tailored methods and instructive materials. These tools, combined with the guidance of our experienced math tutors, supports students to achieve their goals beyond the SAT and into their higher education!
