Many students take the SAT or ACT as part of the entrance requirements for college. Beginning September 2020, the ACT will introduce three new features for students:
- sectional retesting,
- online testing capability,
- a superscored result.
Let’s take a look at how each of these changes impact you.
“Sectional retesting” gives students the chance to focus on individual test sections in order to increase their composite score. For example, if a student struggles on the math section, they can focus on improving their math score during their next attempt rather than retaking (and studying for) every section.
Also, the ACT test will be available online beginning in September 2020. The benefits of the new online testing include students being able to take the test in the comfort of their own home and their results will be available within two days.
Finally, students will have their results “superscored” which means that the best scores from each subject, across multiple tests, will be compiled into an overall score.
This is great news! These changes allow you to target specific skills needed to improve your score - and have your hard work reflected in your final score.
