Summer + Math = Success!

While summer is an easy time to kick back, it is the perfect time to get ahead!

• What was challenging in math last year for your student? Now is the time to figure it out without all the distractions that come with the school year. It is the perfect time for you to ask and us to  answer all those math questions that have been so frustrating.
• Were the calculations fine but the problem solving suffered? Have your student use a few hours over their summer to get a handle on it. As they get older the problem solving becomes more complex by additing additional steps and mixing in more concepts.
• Is your student still counting on their fingers?  This is considered "developmental" until second grade. If they are now past that, they are lacking the strategies for numeric fluency and as place value concepts expand to thousands, millions, and to hundreths and thousandths, efficiently working with numbers is increasingly vital.
• Are they nervous about the next course they are taking? How about introducing them to the concepts now so any mistakes are made prior to go-time. We can focus on the prerequisite skills for success along with giving them a heads up on the big money strategies for success.
• The SAT and ACT are coming up for many students. If they took algebra and geometry back in 7th, 8th or 9th grade, it has been a while since they have worked those skills. A "brush up" may be in order! We have ACT and SAT programs as well and would be happy to provide you with an analysis of skills your student would benefit from practicing.
