We support students who love math with personalized enrichment, with programs for high-achieving elementary learners to competition preparation and advanced topics that inspire curiosity and mathematical excellence.
Following personalized learning plans, we guide high-achieving elementary school students beyond grade-level material, building algebraic thinking, justification and reasoning, strategic problem-solving, and flexible number sense that lay the groundwork for long-term mathematical success.
We equip students for math competitions — including Math Masters, AMC, MathCounts, and Math Olympiad — through targeted training in advanced problem-solving strategies, pattern recognition, and creative thinking techniques that build the skills and confidence needed to excel in competitive settings.
Students in or preparing for honors and accelerated courses including, the UMTYMP, can receive targeted instruction that strengthens mastery of advanced topics, builds sophisticated problem-solving skills, and develops the academic confidence needed to thrive in rigorous coursework.
At Mathnasium of Lino Lakes, we welcome students in Lino Lakes who are performing at or above grade level and are ready for a greater challenge.
Our personalized math enrichment programs provide the structure and expert support students need, whether they want to explore new mathematical concepts, pursue accelerated coursework, or prepare for competitive exams and placement tests.
Powered by the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach, our math enrichment program is designed to build deep understanding, not just familiarity with advanced content.
We help students develop logical thinking, precision, and the ability to connect ideas across mathematical topics. All sessions are delivered through live, face-to-face instruction in a caring and engaging group environment, available both in-center and online.
Math enrichment at Mathnasium begins with a diagnostic assessment that helps us identify each student's current level, areas of strength, and learning goals. Using these insights, we build a personalized learning plan that challenges them appropriately and moves them forward with purpose.
From advanced algebra and geometry to number theory and competition strategies, every plan is built around what that student is ready for and where they want to go next.

What do you like most about learning?
I love the “aha” moment when you finally understand a tricky topic.
What is the biggest impact you’ve had on a student’s ability to become proficient in math?
I feel like making the center fun and inviting has allowed me to make a difference in every student who comes through the door. I was also a Mathnasium student when I was younger, so I can relate to the students who come into my center because I was in their shoes at one point. I went from hating math to majoring in it, teaching it, and now running a Math Learning Center. I am living proof that anyone can learn to love math!
What type of math do you enjoy teaching most?
I love fractions! Improper fractions, mixed numbers, converting between the two, and solving problems involving fractions!
How do you make learning math fun for students?
I build a rapport with every student I work with and make sure I’m explaining concepts in a way that makes sense to the student to avoid frustration. I know how good it feels to finally understand math concepts, so I let all of my students know that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel. Even if they’re struggling now, they all have the potential to be great mathematicians, and I don’t let them forget it!

What do you like most about learning?
I like seeing things in new and different ways. I like to understand how others think and feel and experience the world.
What is the biggest impact you've had on a student's ability to become proficient in math?
The biggest impact I have been able to make on a student’s ability is to grow their comfort level, which grows confidence, which leads to wanting to take on more challenges with others and on their own. I have the ability to take math concepts and explain them in ways that make sense to the individual student.
What type of math do you enjoy teaching most?
I love algebraic thinking. The topics taught in middle school are my favorite to teach. It’s really fun for me to teach solving equations because it is like a puzzle that needs to be unraveled.
How do you make learning math fun for students?
I think the most effective way of making something fun is overcoming the anxiety that goes along with something that is a challenge. I do this with a calm presence, engaging manipulatives, and clear explanations. There are so many interesting patterns and connections in math and when the student’s confidence grows and they start seeing those, it becomes fun for them to see how the next thing connects.

What do you like most about learning?
I enjoy problem-solving and discovering new ways to approach challenges. I especially value the moment of pride or spark of interest when learning something new.
What is the biggest impact you’ve had on a student’s ability to become proficient in math?
I’ve helped students improve their math proficiency by teaching practical strategies, like tips for conversions—multiplying to go smaller and dividing to go bigger. I also support my daughter daily by reinforcing routines and patterns, often creating songs and sayings to make concepts memorable.
How do you make learning math fun for students?
I like to incorporate creative techniques like memorable sayings, visual graphics, and other small strategies to help students remember and enjoy learning math.

What do you like most about learning?
I enjoy being able to understand the world more and more. There is something so powerful about gaining knowledge. Learning is very inspiring and valuable. Specifically in math, working through tough problems and that feeling once it finally clicks is amazing.
What is the biggest impact you’ve had on a student’s ability to become proficient in math?
I remember in the beginning of my employment at Mathnasium, there was a student who was struggling a lot at understanding the concept of fractions. It took me basically all hour to get her to grasp the big picture and be able to do the math proficiently. She is now one of our best students and that experience made me so grateful to have the job I do and be able to make an impact on students. Since then, I’ve had many cases like this and I’m amazed constantly at how a little bit of help can truly transform a student.
