2012 LOCAL TRIMATHLON COMPETITION WINNERS ANNOUNCED

 

Math Competition for Kids in 3rd-6th Grade Held at

Mathnasium of North Alpharetta
 

 

Alpharetta/MiltonGA (October 12,2012) – Mathnasium of North Alpharetta announced the winners of its TriMathlon math competition.

 

The competition for 3rd-6th graders was held in conjunction with Mathnasium Learning Center’s National TriMathlon, created to generate excitement about math among kids. Scores of the local winners will be ranked against other competitors nationwide and national winners will be announced in late October.

 

Students answered questions like: A number that is the product of exactly two primes has exactly how many factors? Answer: 4

 

The winners are:

3rd Grade:

1st Place: Ali Fareed, Milton; 2nd Place: William Tompa, Alpharetta; 3rdPlace: Michael Young, Cumming.

 

4th Grade:

1!st Place: Snehal Oberai, Alpharetta; 2nd Place: Gokul Premkuma, Alpharetta; 3rd Place: Juanjo Rodriguez, Milton

 

5th Grade:

1st Place: Mohammed Fareed, Milton; 2nd Place: Karina Naik, Alpharetta; 3rd Place:Muhammad Fahmy, Milton

 

6th Grade—1st Place: Sasha Prakash,

 

TriMathlon participants competed by completing three challenges: The Counting Game (tests student’s ability to count from any number, to any number, by any number), Magic Squares (students are awarded points for developing their own math problems), and Mental Math Workout (evaluates student’s Number Sense by asking them to solve given problems the ‘smart’ way without pencil and paper).

Mathnasium 'TriMathlon' winners announced

June 29, 2011 ALPHARETTA, Ga.

 

Mathnasium of Alpharetta recently held a "TriMathlon" math competition.

 

The competition for third- through sixth-graders was held in conjunction with Mathnasium Learning Center's National TriMathlon Day, created to generate excitement about math among kids. Students answered questions like, "A number that is the product of exactly two primes has exactly how many factors?" Answer: 4.

Scores of the local winners were ranked against those of other competitors nationwide, and the local winners have been announced.

 

Forty-five TriMathlon participants competed by completing three challenges, including the Counting Game (tests students' ability to count from any number, to any number, by any number), Magic Squares (students are awarded points for creativity in developing their own math problems) and Mental Math Workout (evaluates students' number sense by asking them to solve given problems the "smart" way without pencil and paper).
