In Mathnasium of Northborough’s middle school math tutoring program, students master computation and problem solving with rational numbers, fractions, decimals, and percent, as part of the process to successfully achieve Algebra readiness -- preparing for first-year Algebra (Algebra I). This creates a solid mathematical foundation for future subjects, including Geometry, Algebra II, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus. Our Approach
Middle school students receiving tutoring and math instruction at Mathnasium of Northborough engage with our team of instructors in a unique combination of mental, verbal, visual, tactile, and written exercises. Our instructors do this in a kid-friendly way, making the Mathnasium workout fun!
Math concepts and skills blend to create our program which is designed to help students build number sense. Mathnasium’s program educates children on both “how and why” the math concepts they’re learning work and how they can be applied to interesting aspects of life such as computer science, biology, and psychology.
Customized Learning Plan
Students are evaluated with a written and verbal assessment unique to Mathnasium. Based on the results, we develop a customized learning plan designed to close educational gaps they may have and make it easier for kids to jump ahead when students are ready for advanced math challenges.
Middle school math builds upon elementary math’s foundation and focuses on explaining why mathematical rules work in order for children to learn and understand the rules, not just memorize them.
Additionally, we help students with their homework as part of each session and prepare them for school tests.
