Mathnasium of Pacific Palisades 's Top 5 Moments!

1. Our favorite “aha!” moment with a student.

A: Student did not like percents because "they look complicated and I did not understand it when my teacher was teaching it at school". We assigned percents for each one hundred. I did the drawing for the first problem and after that, it happened- Aha!

2. A time when a student earned a reward.

A: There was a student working to earn enough stars for a chess board! He ended up even staying three hours in a row because he was "in the moment". Dad was impressed and happy to see his hard work pay off. Then he earned his last star and 'BAM', he took it home!

3. Positive parent experience.

A: The student originally came in crying and was FORCED to come for the assessment. School has been difficult because of the teacher this school year. Now, she asks mom and reminds her to schedule her sessions weekly! Mom is so thankful for her change in attitude for math.

4. Favorite ways to teach concepts.

A: Cookie, cake or pie drawings! Fractions are no longer scary :)

5. A time when a student scored well on a test.

A: We had a kindergartener come in second semester. She had not passed a single test! After a week prep with us, she finally passed! She was smiling ear to ear.
