Florida Scholarships That Can Help Support Your Child’s Education (and Tutoring!)
At Mathnasium of Palm Harbor, we believe every child deserves access to an education that fits their unique needs and sometimes, that support comes with a little financial help. Florida offers several scholarship programs that can be used toward private school tuition and educational services like tutoring, making it easier than ever to personalize your child’s learning journey.
Here’s a breakdown of the main Florida scholarship options and how they may support your family.
Florida Tax Credit Scholarship (FTC) & Family Empowerment Scholarship for Educational Options (FES-EO)
These two programs are designed to give families more educational choices and flexibility.
What do these scholarships cover?
The FTC and FES-EO scholarships provide financial assistance for:
Who is eligible?
The scholarship first applies to private school tuition and fees. Students who are not full-time public school students can still access the Family Empowerment Scholarship through the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program.
Good to know: House Bill 1403 merged the Hope Scholarship Program with the FTC and FES-EO programs. Families who previously qualified for the Hope Scholarship should now apply through FTC/FES-EO.
Family Empowerment Scholarship for Unique Abilities (FES-UA)
This scholarship is designed to support students with unique learning needs by offering a highly personalized approach to education.
How it works
The FES-UA is delivered as an Education Savings Account (ESA), allowing families to direct funds toward approved educational services such as:
-
Private school tuition and fees
-
Tutoring
-
Therapies and specialists
-
Curriculum and technology
-
Homeschooling options
-
College savings accounts
Who is eligible?
The average award is around $10,000, giving families flexibility to build the best educational plan for their child.
Personalized Education Program (PEP)
Florida homeschool students who are not enrolled full-time in private or public school may qualify for the Personalized Education Program (PEP) through the Florida Tax Credit Scholarship Program.
This program provides an education savings account (ESA) that can be used to fund various educational needs, including tutoring and enrichment programs.
