Q: What’s something you wish parents and students knew when they enroll at Mathnasium?

A:
Mathnasium is like the gym. If you only go to the gym once a week, you will probably not see any results. However, if you are consistent and go to the gym 2-3 times a week, you will start to see results within 6-8 weeks. Even at the gym if you are just lifting weights that are easy for you, you will not see results. However, if you push your body and challenge your mind to take on more weight, you will see results. Mathnasium works the same way. Coming in consistently and working on challenging problems is the key to growth and success. Homework help is not going to challenge the mind and your student will likely not see results.

Q: What’s something that surprises most students?

A:
Student's don't realize that math is building blocks, just like lego bricks. Each block connects to another in some shape or form. Also, students are surprised when you can actually check your answers by working backwards. For example to validate an addition problem, you can reverse engineer it with subtraction. Same with multiplication and division.

Q: What’s something that surprises most parents?

A:
Math is not just a subject in school, it is a life skill that gets utilized everywhere. When students get good at problem solving or understanding fundamental math topics, they start looking at all aspects of life like a math problem. They can become better decision makers at the grocery store. They can understand sports statistics better, and much much more.

Q: Any other insights?

A:
Math is a life skill. Mathnasium help students build a life skill!
