Q1: What’s the most important habit students can build to succeed in math?
A: The best habit that students should develop to succeed in math (or really any skill!) is consistent and increasingly complex practice. The more practice one gets, the more committed to memory the information becomes. However, it is also important that the student is being challenged- if the work is too easy, the student won't develop their skills as much as they could be!
Q2: What do students usually enjoy the most about Mathnasium once they get started?
A: Once students get started here at Mathnasium, they're often shocked at how exciting and enjoyable math feels. When they find great instructors to guide and walk them through concepts that previously felt difficult, now feel clearer and understandable. Students thrive in a welcoming and fun environment that encourages learning over just correct answers.
Q3: How do you keep students motivated during tough topics?
A: As the instructor, I make sure the student knows that having help is okay at any time during a tough topic. I work with them on the first few problems and then ask them if they know the next step (slowly letting them work on their own). Sometimes, I even reference previous problems and apply the same steps to the current and next problems. It's all about routine and continuous practice! :)
