Q: How do you ensure foundational math concepts are effectively understood by younger students?

Instructor:
For the younger students, we prefer to use visuals and manipulatives to help them grasp a new topic. Visual representations are helpful for building conceptual understandings. Games, puzzles, and songs can also be helpful for some students. We will always adjust to how a student prefers to learn or learns best.

Q: What long-term benefits have you observed in students who start building strong math skills early on?

Instructor:
Their confidence in math really sky rockets! It's wonderful to see students grow as people as well. Students learn how to advocate for themselves and ask questions. Students also gain confidence in themselves to learn something new!

Q: How has learning math at Mathnasium made other subjects or activities easier for you?

Student:
It has helped me think in ways I was never taught which makes it easier to complete problems I used to struggle with.

Q: What math concept or skill are you most excited to learn because you think it will help you in the future?

Student:
I am excited to learn how to convert fractions to percents! Percents are nicer to work with than fractions.

She is understanding new math concepts when they are first introduced in class - and before many of her classmates!
