Q: What was your initial impression of Mathnasium?
A: As an older educator, I have never been fond of common core math. I was somewhat skeptical of Mathnasium at first. I want my children, grandchildren, and great grand children to learn and love math, and be proficient in the ability to understand and put down on paper multiple levels of mathematics.
Q: How has Mathnasium changed your child’s experience with math?
A: My granddaughter was struggling in math and was frustrated with her inability to grasp the process. Her frustration was difficult for me, as I love math. In working with her, I would have to ask, "How did your teacher explain this to you?" She now loves math, is excited to attend Mathnasium, and is so proud of her newfound ability to complete page after page of problems. She loves star cards because it is instanct gratification for completing her math pages.
Q: Has anything surprised you about Mathnasium?
A: I love the atmosphere of the room. It is clean, organized and has math pictures on the walls. Cordial, dedicated staff that are helpful and have a smile on their faces. Weekly competitions, crafts, fun dress-up weeks, and so much creativity added into the program. Pi day was a favorite of mine!
Q: What is your favorite result from Mathnasium?
A: My favorite result is her ability to add and subtract quickly and efficiently. Multiplication skills are increasing and division, although not so easy, is starting to make sense. I am loving the program, and love her newfound love for mathematics. She leaves each session with a smile on her face!
