Make This School Year Greater Than Last Year!

My child needs math tutoring assistance to catch up and keep up in the classroom and help with homework. Is Mathnasium right for us?

Mathnasium of Stone Oak's learning plans are customized to each student and taught by our team of instructors and math tutors empowered to inspire and excite. Students are not a commodity and we do not take a one-size fits all approach. We know your child is unique and they deserve a unique learning plan to address their personal math foundation gaps. We then teach math in a way that makes sense to them. Working with our math instructors at our Stone Oak math learning center on tutoring, math homework and test prep help leads to greater confidence and abilities in math.

How do I get my student started at Mathnasium of Stone Oak?

Our program is designed to meet the individual student’s current ability and learning style, and then build a custom learning plan specific to the student.  It's not a one size fits all approach.

The first step in our enrollment process is to do a math assessment with each student. There is no cost for the assessment. It's just a matter of taking a look at a calendar and scheduling it.

This assessment gives us insight about the student's strengths or gaps in their math abilities. From there, we are able to create a customized curriculum for the student based on their abilities and math goals.

Once the free math assessment is completed, what comes next?

Becoming a member at Mathnasium of Stone Oak is both flexible and easy.  You can initiate your membership at any time and immediately begin benefitting from the Mathnasium experience without being locked into a long-term contract.

When can my child come to Mathnasium of Stone Oak and how often each week?

Students can simply come in during our instruction windows at a time that is convenient to them.

  • Middle School (Algebra 1 and Up):  90 minutes

  • Saturday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m

Is the math tutoring 1 on 1?

With each student having an individual learning plan, and individual learning style, our instructors are teaching each student individually.  During a child’s one on one math tutoring at Mathnasium of Stone Oak, the instructor is going to actively teach the math and review math subjects with the student.  Then, as the student starts to show an understanding the Mathnasium instructor will ask the child to work independently.  This gives them the time to process this new math information without the pressure and stress of being watched. It also prevents a "learned helplessness" where the student feels that they need the instructor sitting in front of them all the time in order to be successful.  Afterall, we can't be there for their math tests!

The instructor will return to the student after a few moments to ensure they are doing the problems correctly.  If we find they are making an error, we are able to step in before it becomes a habit and reteach the concept using a different method until the student truly shows an understanding of it.  This helps your child to become a confident, independent learner.
