Student Spotlight: Q&A with Mathnasium Graduate Aniah Russaw

At Mathnasium, we love celebrating our students’ successes—and today we’re proud to spotlight recent West Bloomfield High School graduate, Aniah Russaw. Aniah’s math journey is one of growth, confidence, and perseverance. We asked her a few questions about her experience at Mathnasium and how it helped her succeed in high school and beyond.

Tell us a little about yourself!

My name is Aniah Russaw and I graduated from West Bloomfield High School.

What was your relationship with math like before coming to Mathnasium?

My relationship with math before I went to Mathnasium was challenging. I did not have a good understanding of what was being taught during my math classes at school.

How did Mathnasium help change that?

After attending Mathnasium, I was confident going into math class because I was comfortable with the topics being taught. This year I took AP Statistics and learned about how to analyze data. I got good at doing all the calculations and knowing which ones to do because Mathnasium broke the concepts down for me. When we received practice quizzes for the AP exam, I would bring them to Mathnasium and get help with the concepts I still didn’t understand.

What’s something you’ll take with you from your Mathnasium experience?

One thing I will take with me is that it’s okay to not know what’s going on all the time. Also, getting a tutor doesn’t make you any less—it helps you become better.

If you could give advice to your younger self at Mathnasium, what would you say?

You are smarter than you think, so be confident in your abilities.
