Make it a Mathnasium Summer!

The data is in – we know kids’ math scores have dropped due to the pandemic, after having made steady increases since the year 2000. We also see evidence that math and reading skills often decrease over the summer when learners may have less opportunity to use them.

That can all be pretty overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Enrichment activities can help strengthen skills so they don’t atrophy. Not only that, summer is a wonderful time to close learning gaps since students have little or no schoolwork.

On the bright side (and there is a bright side!), data suggests students are rebounding academically from the impact of the pandemic. Some effective ways to help them do so include “…increasing instructional time, ranging from more class time, intensive tutoring, or high-quality summer programming….”
