The Texas Parent-Directed Special Education Services (PDSES, formerly SSES) provides eligible students with a one-time $1,500 grant. Students served by special education in Texas public schools are eligible to apply for PDSES funds. Families can use this funding to purchase educational materials, tutoring, and services from approved providers, supporting each child’s unique learning journey and helping them reach their full academic potential. The Texas Parent-Directed Special Education Services grant, officially known as PDSES (formerly SSES), is a one-time $1,500 grant authorized by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) for eligible students receiving special education services in Texas public schools. Families can use the funds to purchase approved educational services and materials, including math tutoring at Mathnasium.
Once approved, families access their funds through ClassWallet, a digital marketplace where they can browse and select approved providers, including Mathnasium, and approve direct payments to registered providers from their digital wallet. Please note that PDSES funds cannot be directly reimbursed to families for out-of-pocket expenses.
ClassWallet is the platform you will hear about most once your funding is confirmed, so it is worth getting familiar with it early.
For the 2025-2026 school year, the application window ran from April 1 to April 30, 2026. The TEA processes applications during the summer, beginning in July 2026, with accounts officially funded in the fall.
To qualify for the $1,500 PDSES grant, students must meet the eligibility criteria:
Enrolled in a Texas public school: Students must be currently attending a Texas public school, from Pre-K through 12th grade.
Receiving Special Education services: The student must have an active Individualized Education Program (IEP).
First-time applicant: Students who have previously received a PDSES or SSES grant are not eligible to apply again.
The PDSES program is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. To apply, parents or legal guardians must first create a My SPEDTex account, which serves as the secure gateway to the PDSES Parent Portal. Applications are submitted through that portal.

Applying for the PDSES grant starts with creating a My SPEDTex account. This account is now required before you can access the PDSES Parent Portal, where the official application is completed.
Here is what the process typically looks like:
Create your My SPEDTex account at the TEA's website.
Log in to the PDSES Parent Portal through your My SPEDTex account.
Complete the application and submit documentation confirming your child's eligibility, including proof of enrollment in a Texas public school and verification of active special education services through an IEP.
For the 2025-2026 school year, the application window ran from April 1 to April 30, 2026. Applications are processed during the summer, and accounts are funded in the fall. Keep an eye on TEA's website for the 2026-2027 application window opening.
Once your student is approved, your local Mathnasium center can walk you through how to select us as your provider in ClassWallet and get your student started.

Search for and select Mathnasium as your provider.
Schedule a free assessment at your local Mathnasium center.
Enroll your student in a personalized tutoring program.
Submit your invoice through ClassWallet for processing.
