Casey Magnuson, Center Director/Owner
Casey is the Center Director for Mathnasium of San Marcos. Before opening her Mathnasium Center, Casey taught for San Diego Mesa College and was the Center Director for another Mathnasium location. She has a degree in Math from UCLA and a Masters degree in Statistics from SDSU. Having worked at Mathnasium since Spring of 2014, Casey's dream was to open her own center so that she could impact more kids and help them to enjoy math so that they can pursue their dreams too! When Casey is not in the center, you can find her rock climbing or at the beach with her husband.
Kevin Magnuson, Owner
Kevin is the Owner at Mathnasium of San Marcos. Prior to opening his Mathnasium center, Kevin worked for UCLA Anderson School of Business. He has also work as an instructor for Mathnasium prior to opening the San Marcos location. Kevin studied Math, Economics, and Philosophy at UCLA, and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy with an emphasis in Logic. Having a background in math, and a love for teaching, Kevin is enthusiastic about helping kids understand math. Outside of Mathnasium, he teaches beginner adult swim lessons at the YMCA, or hangs out with his wife and puppy.
Jeneva, Lead Instructor
Jeneva is a student at Cal State San Marcos. She is working on her degree in Mathematics so that she can follow her dream of becoming a Mathematics Professor at either the College or High School level. She has always loved being there for the moment when a child finally understands something they have been struggling with and seeing that "wow, I got it" look on their face. During her free time, Jeneva enjoys hanging out with friends, exercising, and going on adventures with her roommate.
Kim graduated from San Diego State University in 2015 with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. She is working toward a Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy. Her goal is to work with children with special needs in a school setting. This is her third year working at Mathnasium. Her favorite part about Mathnasium is being able to meet each student where they are at, watch them grow in confidence, and of course laugh along the way! You will find Kim hiking, swimming at the beach, watching football, or eating cotton candy ice cream in her free time!
Annabel is a college student at Cal State San Marcos. She is pursuing a degree in Mathematics in order to become a math teacher. She has always had a passion for math and wants to help kids reach their highest potential by building their confidence in math. During her free time, she enjoys going to concerts, hiking, and spending time with her two cats.
Aryan graduated from UC Irvine with a Bachelor's degree in Dramatic Arts, while studying Math on the side. He hopes to earn a Master's Degree in Mathematics, and then become a professor at the College level. Aryan's favorite part of working at Mathnasium is seeing the excitement students have when they start to have an understanding of "what the math means" instead of just having a list of steps memorized. You can find Aryan at the gym, practicing his Theatrical skills, hanging out with friends, playing the guitar, and reading a good book.
Brenda graduated from Cal State Chico, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies, with a concentration in Mathematics. Her dream is to get her teaching credential and have her own classroom. Brenda loves helping kids get over their difficulties in mathematics. She loves that Mathnasium not only teaches kids, but gives students mental math tool that they will be able to use for the rest of their lives. Plus Mathnasium makes math FUN! In her free time Brenda enjoys watching mystery and drama shows, working out, and extreme couponing.
Cassidy is a senior at Mission Hills High School who will be attending California Baptist University in the fall. She will be majoring in Sports Analytics to eventually become a sports statistician. Math has always been her favorite subject in school, and she enjoys using her love for it to teach others. During her free time, she enjoys playing soccer, hanging out with friends, and doing youth group activities at Mission Hills Church.
