At Mathnasium, we help kids understand math by teaching the way that makes sense to them. Children who consistently attend sessions at our learning centers enjoy a transformative learning experience and make huge strides in the classroom.
Attitude: When math makes sense, kids develop a more positive attitude toward math.
Understanding: Mathnasium teaches for understanding, giving students the ability to succeed in any math environment. As Larry Martinek, Mathnasium’s Chief Instructional Officer notes, “It's pretty easy to forget things you memorize and near impossible to forget things you understand."
School Progress: When kids learn math in a way that they truly understand, they achieve greater success in the classroom.

"My son has been going to Mathnasium of South Barrington to supplement his Geometry instruction. We have seen my son's grades improve since going to Mathnasium. I guess that is the bottom line when you go to a tutor center. The director who runs it, Jennifer, is super nice and flexible. The two main instructors who work with my son, Matt and Nick, are able to explain Geometry in a way that my son relates to. It is one thing to be able to explain a subject. it is another to be able to teach it to someone else. I am really impressed by the South Barrington Mathnasium location."

"Mathnasium in South Barrington is one of the best place there is for math! They truly care about parent's concerns and understand how to help students with their school work and tests. Jennifer the director was awesome, the tutors especially Nick and Matt are very knowledgeable to help with High School math assignments and tests. When I approached Jennifer, director of SB Director for help last fall, she was very patient and listen attentively to our concerns and went above and beyond to accommodate, address and furnish the best solution for our child. My son's confidence has raised and feel hopeful about High School Math because of SB Mathnasium. Thanks to Jennifer!!!"

"When Han walked into Mathnasium of South Barrington in October of 2014 he was a kindergartner who was already able to do half of first grade math. Attending on average four days a week, always with a good attitude and eager to learn, Han has made remarkable progress since then. Now just beginning first grade, he has finished all of first grade math, second grade math and almost all of third grade math and continues to push forward. He has mastered his multiplication facts, has begun division, and fractional work. Han’s progress continues to impress us at Mathnasium of South Barrington, and we are delighted with how much he has accomplished."

"Walking into our center in South Barrington six months ago Julia was working nearly two grade levels below where she should have been. Her basic equation, integer and fractional skills were very weak causing her to really struggle with beginning algebra topics. Throughout the rest of the school year our main concern was to pull up her math grade in school and to see improvement. When summer started we began aggressively working towards filling in the gaps from sixth grade to begin preparing for her next school year, eighth grade. She attended Mathnasium of South Barrington forty three times in the three month period for hour and a half sessions, almost four days a week. At the end of the summer Julia has improved her math scores by an entire grade level. Her confidence in math has also greatly improved and she has gained tools to help her apply her new foundation to higher level problems. While Julia is still working towards her goals and reaching her current grade level in math, we are confident that with the progress she has made at Mathnasium of South Barrington she will be able to succeed in the eighth grade and continue building more foundations for further in her education."
