FAQs About Summer Programs in Philadelphia

  • Where in Philadelphia does Mathnasium offer summer programs?

Summer math programs are available across Mathnasium centers, including our downtown location as well as centers in nearby Chadds Ford and Phoenixville.

Contact your nearest Mathnasium center for more details about their summer programs.

  • What's the difference between summer programs and summer camps at Mathnasium?

The summer program runs on a flexible schedule built around each student's personalized learning plan, so a student can catch up, keep up, or get ahead at their own pace over the course of the summer.

Summer camp uses a different format. It is a structured, half-day experience offered at select Philadelphia centers that combines math instruction with themed activities such as STEAM projects, games, and team challenges.

  • Do all centers in Philadelphia offer both the summer program and summer camp?

All Mathnasium centers in Philadelphia offer our flexible summer program, but not every location hosts summer camps.

Since camps are only available at select centers, we recommend contacting your nearest Philadelphia Mathnasium center to see which summer options are available and which format best fits your child’s and your family's schedule.

  • What do Mathnasium's summer programs look like?

Mathnasium's summer program in Philadelphia runs as a set number of sessions each month, in-center or online, with each one built around the student's personalized learning plan and led by a specially trained tutor.

Exact days and hours vary by center, so most centers post their own summer session schedule.

Check your nearest Philadelphia location's summer page or call directly for specifics.

  • What do Mathnasium's summer camps look like?

Mathnasium summer camps, offered at select Philadelphia centers, bring together personalized math instruction and themed enrichment activities in a half-day format that runs Monday through Friday, typically from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

Each center sets its own camp themes and schedule, with options that may include Robotics & Coding, STEAM Challenges, Chess, Financial Literacy, and more.

Though each math camp is different, a typical camp day would look like this:

    • 9:00–9:05 a.m.: Greetings and welcome

    • 9:05–10:05 a.m.: Focused math instruction using personalized learning plan materials

    • 10:05–10:15 a.m.: Break

    • 10:15–11:15 a.m.: Themed STEAM or enrichment activity

    • 11:15–11:30 a.m.: Cleanup and transition

    • 11:30 a.m.–12:00 p.m.: Games and pickup

Reach out to your nearest Philadelphia center to see which camp themes and dates are on offer this summer and how to save your child's spot.

  • What kind of math will my child be working on over the summer?

The learning plan depends on where your child is right now on their math journey rather than their grade alone.

Depending on their current skill level and goals, that might include:

    • Foundational skills: Fixing gaps in math facts, place value, fractions, decimals, and percentages

    • Pre-algebra and Algebra 1: Expressions, equations, and an introduction to functions

    • Geometry: Angles, area, volume, and coordinate geometry

    • Algebra 2, precalculus, or trigonometry: For students heading into upper-level high school math

    • Test prep: Math concepts covered on the SAT®, ACT®, PSAT®, or ISEE®, for students preparing for college entrance or private school admissions exams

Some students spend the whole summer on one of these areas, while others move through several, depending on their goals for the fall.

  • What curriculum do you use to teach math in your summer programs?

At Mathnasium, we do not follow traditional curricula. We use The Mathnasium Method™, a proprietary teaching approach that empowers students to truly understand and even enjoy math.

Our approach begins with a diagnostic assessment to identify each student’s skill level, areas for improvement, and academic goals. Based on these insights, we create a personalized learning plan designed to put them on the best path toward math mastery.

Our specially trained tutors follow these personalized learning plans and use a combination of mental, verbal, visual, tactile, and written techniques to teach math in a way that makes sense to each student.

Through caring guidance and interactive instruction in a fun group environment, we help students understand both the “how” and the “why” behind every math concept. This builds their critical thinking and problem-solving skills they can use in the classroom, on standardized tests, and beyond.

  • What’s the difference between the in-center and online summer program?

There’s no difference between our online and in-center summer programs.

Mathnasium students receive the same personalized learning plan and face-to-face instruction whether they attend sessions at their nearest Philadelphia center or log in from home.

Our online and in-center programs offer the same quality experience, delivered by the same specially trained tutors, so you can choose the format that fits your family’s schedule best.

  • When do Mathnasium’s summer programs in Philadelphia start and end?

Most Mathnasium centers in Philadelphia start their summer programs in early June and continue through late August.

Enrollment is now open, and spots tend to fill quickly, so reach out to your nearest Philadelphia location to confirm specific dates and secure your child’s place.

  • How often should my child attend sessions during the summer?

For our summer program, we typically recommend 2–3 sessions per week. This steady pace helps students make real progress while still enjoying a flexible summer.

If your child is enrolled in a Mathnasium summer camp, the format is different and follows a fixed half-day schedule over consecutive days, creating a structured, activity-rich experience.

  • Can we schedule sessions around summer vacations or other activities?

Yes! Flexibility is a key feature of Mathnasium’s summer programs in Philadelphia.

We'll build a schedule around your family's summer plans, travel, camps, or anything else on the calendar, while keeping your child's learning on track.

  • What do Mathnasium's summer programs in Philadelphia cost?

Pricing depends on the center, the program type, and the session schedule your child needs. Some Philadelphia centers offer summer session packages, others run on a standard monthly membership, and summer camp, where offered, is typically priced separately.

Contact your nearest Philadelphia center for current rates and any summer promotions running at your location.

  • What is included in the cost of the summer program?

The monthly enrollment fee includes everything your child needs to succeed: a diagnostic assessment, a personalized learning plan, and face-to-face instruction in a fun and supportive group environment.

Students also enjoy access to hands-on learning tools and engaging activities that make math meaningful and even enjoyable.

Some centers may include extra perks like snacks or incentives.

Contact your local Philadelphia center for pricing details and any available summer offers.

  • What can I expect my child to achieve by the end of the program?

Mathnasium’s summer program in Philadelphia offers a chance to change the way your child experiences math. In our encouraging and engaging environment, students improve their foundational skills, build fluency, and grow more confident in their abilities.

By the end of the summer, many students exhibit:

    • Quicker, more accurate mental math

    • Improved problem-solving and critical thinking

    • A brighter, more confident outlook on math
