Ms KaLynn

Center Director of Brandon
KaLynn is a Florida native and graduate of the University of Central Florida with a BS in Computer Science. She worked for 20 years as a computer software programmer and consultant and then retired to spend more time homeschooling her 3 children. KaLynn taught math, science, and SAT/ACT prep in the homeschooling community for many years before joining Mathnasium of Brandon in March, 2016. She enjoys the outdoors and spends her free time hiking, kayaking, and playing pickleball and spike ball with her family. KaLynn’s passion for teaching children and helping them reach their full potential is evident in her commitment to the families at Mathnasium. Initially as an Assistant Center Director and now as the Center Director of Brandon, KaLynn loves keeping the center running smoothly and seeing the smiles on the children’s faces when they arrive for their sessions and when they leave with a greater understanding of math. Nothing makes her day better than hearing a child exclaim “I love coming to Mathnasium''!

Ali

Assistant Center Director
Ali received her bachelor's degree in mathematics along with a minor in secondary education from the University of Florida. After many years of working as an office manager for multiple companies and homeschooling her four daughters, she began working at Mathnasium where she uses her hard earned degrees daily. Ali was a member of National Honor Society, Beta Club, FBLA, and served as the secretary for Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society). She was part of the Bible quiz team with her church and earned many scholarships and awards from competitions. She served as a leader in her church youth group and eventually served as the secretary for the church alongside her husband, who was the youth/associate pastor. Ali began working at Mathnasium in 2021 as an instructor and then lead instructor, before taking on her current role as the Assistant Center Director. Her love for children and passion for Math allows her to succeed in her position. She enjoys meeting with parents and sharing the uplifting news that their children are progressing in their math skills and gaining confidence, as well!

Judi

Instructor
Judi is a retired WV teacher who moved to FL to be near her grandchildren. You may find her at our local schools working as a substitute teacher when not having grandchildren days. She is from Pgh. PA and is a huge Steelers and Penguins fan. Judi loves working with her team at Mathnasium. Favorite Number – I don’t really have a favorite but if I did it would not be an odd number. Favorite Math Joke - What do you get when you cross a dog and a calculator?  Answer - A friend you can count on. In 5 years I will be hopefully still working at Mathnasium of Brandon and enjoying my grandchildren while watching them grow up. I love Mathnasium because Ms Becky has a great team. We explain math so our students understand and gain the confidence needed to excel.

Jackson

Instructor
Jackson is a senior at Bloomingdale Senior High School, where he excels as a student and actively participates in several extracurricular activities. Jackson’s passion for computer science and mathematics has led him to enroll in courses such as AP Statistics and AP Computer Science A, which have further developed his interest in these fields. Jackson is heavily involved with several clubs at Bloomingdale, especially the Bloomingdale Esports club, where he is a competitive Super Smash Bros Ultimate player and takes part in countless hours of training and tournaments. In addition, Jackson is a member of the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the Bloomingdale Computer Programming Club. In his leisure time, Jackson enjoys programming, playing video games, and playing chess. Jackson has also been designated as an AP Scholar with Distinction and a National Merit Scholar, representing the top 0.5% of high school seniors in the country. These prestigious awards showcase Jackson’s commitment to the highest standard of academic excellence. Jackson’s position as an instructor at Mathnasium allows him to build confidence in students by helping them learn math in a way that makes sense to each student. His passion for teaching is what empowers Mathnasium students to succeed, and makes him a valuable member of the Mathnasium team.

Kaylee

Instructor
Kaylee is a sophomore at the University of Florida majoring in Data Science with a minor in Spanish. She has been passionate about math since a young age, when she skipped a year ahead of the grade track in the subject. At the University of Florida, she is enrolled in a multitude of calculus, statistics, and programming courses maintaining all A’s in each one. Kaylee is involved in several organizations at UF. She is a member of the UF Girls Who Code chapter, and the Data Science and Informatics Club. She is also involved in a research project working with sports analytics – in which she uses her calculus and statistical skills on a weekly basis. In her free time, Kaylee loves to read and go for runs - she has done about twenty 5k’s so far! When she is home from school, she always enjoys hanging out with her friends and family, and her 6 dogs, 5 cats, 3 rats, and 3 gerbils. Kaylee’s role at Mathnasium is very important to her because she enjoys helping others feel more confident in math. Throughout her three years at Mathnasium, she has become very passionate about math and hopes to keep empowering students with the subject. Her unique experience and passion for math makes her a key part of the Mathnasium team.

Calleigh

Instructor
Calleigh is a junior at Bloomingdale High School, where she engages in many STEM-related classes. WIth an avid passion for learning about the world, she has taken many of the mathematics and science courses, including AP Calculus BC, AP Physics, and AP Statistics. Calleigh is involved with many organizations at school, including being the president of SAVE Club, officer in Key Club and Science National Honor Society, and member of both the Mu Alpha Theta + National Honor Society. Beyond the classroom, she is a local leader at Seeds of Hope food pantry and volunteers weekly at her church. In her free time, she enjoys going to the beach and thrifting. Calleigh's commitment to helping others both academically and mentally is shown in her role at Mathnasium. As an instructor, she uses her experiences to foster confidence in student's abilities and expand their knowledge. Her patience and commitment to help students get over barriers make her a crucial part of our Mathnasium team.

Hadley

Instructor
Hadley is a Senior at Bloomingdale Senior High School. He is passionate about math and computer science and will be attending the University of Central Florida this Fall as a Computer Science major on a Provost scholarship. Hadley volunteered at Metropolitan Ministries throughout high school accumulating over 100 hours which in addition to his academic excellence and high SAT scores secured him the full Bright Futures Florida Academic Scholarship award. Hadley has always loved math and advanced two grade levels ahead in math starting in middle school allowing him to progress through multiple AP math courses in high school. Hadley is a member of the National Honors Society and the Computer Programming club at Bloomingdale and is an AP Scholar with Distinction scoring a 5 on all his AP course exams. In his free time Hadley enjoys spending time with his family, and friends, and also playing video games. Hadley enjoys working with kids and helping them succeed in math so they can learn and grow and achieve their full academic potential.

Maddie

Instructor
Maddie is a student at Newsome High School. She has always loved and excelled in math throughout her academic career, and it is still her favorite subject! In her free time, she loves playing the piano and doing musical theater. Favorite Number: Lucky number 13! Favorite Math Joke: How does a ghost solve a quadratic equation? By completing the scare In five years she will be: Studying Aerospace Engineering in college! Maddie loves Mathnasium because she loves seeing students understand a subject that may have been intimidating to them before.

Bradley

Instructor
Bradley is a high school student who grew up in California. He has always enjoyed and excelled in math, and Geometry is his favorite by far! He is a big fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and in his free time he enjoys Scuba Diving or spending time with friends. Bradley plays volleyball and loves chess! Favorite Number: 22 because it is the number of the Dodgers pitcher, Clayton Kershaw. Favorite Math Joke: What did 0 say to 8? Nice belt. In five years I will be: Graduating college as an aerospace engineer. I love Mathnasium because: I want to help others succeed the same way that I did! I enjoy teaching and seeing concepts click in students' minds, especially when they never thought they would get it!

Jake

Instructor
Jacob is currently a student at Jesuit High School, where he is engaged both inside the classroom and in various extracurricular activities. Jacob has always excelled in his math courses and is currently enrolled in AP Calculus AB. Outside the classroom, Jacob spends most of his time playing lacrosse; Jacob plays attack on the varsity lacrosse team. Jacob also plays a role on Jesuit’s Varsity quiz bowl team, where he specializes in math and science. Jacob is a part of the National Honors Society and plays an active role in numerous service clubs, such as Key Club and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. When not practicing lacrosse or answering quiz bowl questions, Jacob likes to fish and spend time with his friends. Jacob’s desire to help others drew him to Mathnasium. As an instructor, Jacob uses his math skills to find the best medium for his students to learn and grow to their full academic potential. His desire and will to help others grasp certain math concepts make Jake a valuable asset to the Mathnasium team.

John

Instructor
John is a college student at the University of South Florida who is pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering. With a passion for numbers and problem solving, his love for mathematics led him to Mathnasium, where he shares his knowledge and enthusiasm with students. Beyond his academic pursuits, he enjoys listening to music, watching movies, and playing volleyball and basketball. His favorite number is 3 because it was the number he grew up wearing on the back of his jersey when he played basketball, his favorite sport. His favorite math joke is: why did the math professor go to the beach? It was to prove to his students that without sin, he could still have tan lines! In five years, he hopes to be a successful process engineer working in the food and beverage industry. I love Mathnasium because it promotes a supportive and collaborative environment. It creates a sense of belonging and camaraderie in a vibrant community.

Rosie

Instructor
Rosie is a student at Bloomingdale High School. She was born in Thailand and moved here when she was 10 years old. In her free time, she loves to play the piano, practice her Muay Thai skills and watch Formula 1 races with her friends! Favorite number: 9 and 29 because it is her lucky number. Favorite math joke: why is 6 scared of 7? because 7, ate(8), 9. In five years Rosie will be finishing her aerospace engineering degree along with a pilot's license. Rosie love's Mathnasium because she likes helping kids with math and assisting them with something they struggle with.

Alex

Instructor
Alexander is a student at Newsome High School and has a strong interest in mathematics and science. Alex's goals are of becoming an engineer. To build towards this, Alexander is enrolled in a number of rigorous AP courses, including AP Calculus and AP biology, classes which he thoroughly enjoys and exceeds expectations in. Alexander also participates in extracurriculars, most notably playing for the only tier one hockey team in Florida, the Florida Alliance, and recently took his team to the national championship. In his free time, Alexander enjoys studying for his classes, diving into historical books, and helping out in his community. Most of all, Alexander enjoys guiding the wonderful students at Mathnasium through all their mathematical qualms. His passion for helping students get comfortable with math and prioritizing finding ways that make sense to them is what makes Alexander a valuable member of the Mathnasium team.

Chelsey

Lead Instructor
Chelsey, a senior at Bloomingdale High School, stands out for her exceptional academic performance and active involvement in various extracurricular pursuits. With a strong foundation in mathematics, she has completed rigorous courses up to and including AP Statistics and AP Calculus BC, achieving perfect scores on both AP exams. Her leadership extends beyond the classroom as she holds a prominent position on the Student Government's executive board. Additionally, Chelsey's musical talents shine through as the first chair flute in the Wind Ensemble and as the drum major for the marching band. Chelsey's commitment to academic excellence is further evidenced by her presidency in the Bloomingdale National Honor Society and her membership in various other honor societies such as Mu Alpha Theta, Spanish National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and English National Honor Society. She also actively engages in community service through organizations like Best Buddies and Senior Steering. Next year, Chelsey plans to attend the University of Florida in pursuit of an aerospace engineering degree. In her free time, she enjoys long-distance running with her family. At Mathnasium, Chelsey channels her love for mathematics into helping others enhance their academic skills. Her expertise in the subject and her dedication to mentoring students make her an asset to the team, embodying her commitment to academic excellence and service to others.

Mika

Instructor
Mika is a senior at Newsome High School, where she shows her love of learning through her choice of various rigorous courses and many extracurricular activities. Mika is currently enrolled in AP Statistics and has taken other advanced mathematics classes such as College Algebra through dual-enrollment with Hillsborough Community College. Mika is involved with multiple clubs at school, including National Honors Society, Science National Honors Society, 1Voice, and Mu Alpha Theta- also known as Mathematics National Honors Society. Her diligence towards her academic work has earned her the College Board AP Scholar Award. Mika has also been involved in her school choir since her freshman year. Her out of school activities include spending time with friends and family, reading novels, singing, and traveling. As an instructor, Mika uses her knowledge in math to help students build confidence in their abilities and reach their academic goals. Her goal is to help students to find the fun and satisfaction in solving math problems!

Sophia

Instructor
Sophia is a junior at Bloomingdale High School, where her passion for academics thrives. She has a special love for science and math and is enrolled in various AP and honors courses, which demonstrates her commitment to the subjects. Sophia is involved with the theater club at her school, where she holds a leadership position. She also takes up many opportunities to volunteer with other clubs when possible, where her willingness to help her community shines through. Outside of school clubs, she enjoys painting, creative writing, and spending time with her two little siblings. Sophia’s love for helping others excel in mathematics is clearly shown through her role at the Mathnasium. In her role, she uses her expertise in math to empower students to build their confidence, develop math skills, and understand connections between math and the world around them. Her love for teaching and dedication to success make her a wonderful part of the Mathnasium team.

John

Instructor
John is a junior at newsome high school where he has excelled throughout his years there. He has taken math classes such as AP Precalculus and College algebra and will be taking AP Calculus, AP statistics and more in his senior year. John plays in Newsome’s Symphonic orchestra as a violin player. He was even the 1st chair of his section for a few concerts. He is a part of the PAWS club where he helps raise money for animals in shelters. Outside of school, John is involved in competitive bowling and bowls league every saturday. John uses his advanced knowledge in math to help students understand the basic concepts and ideas of math needed to succeed further in his career. He has a strong passion for math and helping others and loves seeing the faces of students when they start to understand a concept.

Shealyn

Instructor
Shealyn is a student at Bloomingdale High School, where she excels as a student and is actively involved in her school. Shealyn’s passion for math has has helped her achieve high scores and advanced math courses during her student career. Shealyn is very involved at Bloomingdale, she plays volleyball at her school, is in Animal Welfare, Key club, and is hoping to be in SGA next year! In her free time Shealyn plays piano, viola, and plays volleyball with friends. Shealyn’s is 3rd in her class and looking forward to moving up! Shealyn has always had a passion for teaching and math and is excited to join the Mathnasium team.
