Patricia Surman and Reiner Krämer lead Mathnasium of Boulder with a shared passion for education and a commitment to student success. Every day, they strive to make learning math engaging, effective, and encouraging for every child who walks through their doors. Their mission is to foster a genuine understanding of math by providing high-quality instruction, a positive learning environment, and personalized support.
Together, Patricia and Reiner ensure that each student has the tools to build confidence, improve problem-solving skills, and develop a lasting appreciation for math. They look forward to helping your child achieve a bright, successful future.
Ashley
Center Director
Ashley brings extensive teaching experience and a deep love for math to her role as Center Director. She holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics with a minor in education and is a former high school math teacher. At Mathnasium, she enjoys guiding students toward confidence and mastery through personalized learning.
Outside of work, Ashley enjoys cooking, hiking, crocheting, and spending time with her husband and two young boys, ages one and three. Her favorite number is 11, and she loves seeing her students grow and succeed in math each day.
Romel
Lead Instructor
Romel holds a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and has two years of experience teaching high school math. Her favorite part of working at Mathnasium is watching her students experience multiple “aha” moments as new concepts click throughout the day.
Outside of teaching, Romel enjoys spending her days caring for her indoor plants and painting. Her favorite number is 44, which is a reflection of her appreciation for patterns and balance in both art and math.
Angelo
Lead Instructor
Angelo is pursuing a degree in mathematics and computer science with a minor in physics at the University of Chicago. He loves exploring connections between intuition and logic, both in math and in his teaching. His favorite part of working at Mathnasium is seeing students connect their own insights to the concepts they’re learning.
In his free time, Angelo enjoys playing in chess tournaments, solving challenging puzzles, and exploring new mathematical ideas. His favorite number is 2 for its simplicity and foundational role in mathematics.
Mckinnly
Instructor
Mckinnly has a degree in applied mathematics and brings a wealth of experience as a systems engineer and middle school math teacher. At Mathnasium, she enjoys connecting with students daily and helping them grow more confident with each session.
Outside of the center, Mckinnly loves playing board games, from silly party games to complex strategy games that can last eight hours! Her favorite number is 24 because of its many factors, reflecting her love for structure and versatility in math.
Addison
Instructor
Addison is a current undergraduate student at the University of Rochester studying Astrophysics and Aerospace Engineering. When she’s not studying, she enjoys skiing, stargazing, and watching sci-fi movies. Her favorite number is 299,792,458 (the speed of light). Her favorite part of working at Mathnasium is helping students understand the “why” behind math.
Isaac
Instructor
Isaac is currently a junior at George Washington High School. His hobbies are working out and playing basketball. Isaac's favorite number is 18. His favorite part of teaching at Mathnasium is to share his love for math through meaningful moments of students learning something new.
