• Where is Mathnasium of McLean located?

  Mathnasium of McLean is located directly across the street behind LIDL and opposite McLean Family Restaurant. We’re on the ground-floor corner of the building with ample parking and a safe sidewalk pick-up area, making drop-offs and pick-ups stress-free for busy families. 

  We proudly serve families from McLean and surrounding suburbs. Many students attend Fairfax County and Arlington County Public Schools. Local schools we support include:

• Does Mathnasium of McLean offer online tutoring?

  Yes! Mathnasium of McLean offers both in-center and online tutoring.  

  Whether they attend in person or online, all students receive personalized, face-to-face instruction from the same specially trained tutors in a supportive and engaging group environment designed to help them thrive. 

• Is there a difference between online and in-person tutoring?

  No, there’s no difference in quality between in-person and online tutoring at Mathnasium of McLean.  

  Students who attend online sessions receive the same personalized learning plans, supportive group environment, and live instruction from the same caring tutors they would work with at our learning center. 

• What math classes can your McLean tutors help with?

  We support students in grades K–12 across a wide range of math classes and topics, from early childhood math and early arithmetic to Algebra and Geometry. 

  Working with our specially trained math tutors in McLean, students gain confidence, develop critical thinking skills, and improve academic performance. 

• Is there a minimum age required to attend Mathnasium of McLean?

  At all Temple Ventures centers, we require students to be able to read well enough to work on their own, and to be able to stay focused for the duration of their hour-long visit. If a parent isn't sure whether their child is ready for Mathnasium, we're happy to talk with them and have them come in to the center for a trial visit. 

• What does mathematics tutoring cost at Mathnasium of McLean?

  Mathnasium of McLean delivers high value math tutoring at an affordable rate by combining a superior learning experience with an efficient monthly membership structure.  

  After a diagnostic assessment, we create a personalized learning plan with a recommended session frequency tailored to your child's goals. There is a one-time enrollment fee at the beginning of the membership to cover setup costs.

• Is there a difference between the cost of online and in-center math tutoring?

  No. Whether students attend sessions online, in person, or through a hybrid format, the membership feesremain the same.

• Why do you require an assessment for enrollment?

  Each student begins their Mathnasium journey with a diagnostic assessment that helps us identify their current strengths, learning gaps, and goals. These insights allow us to create a personalized learning plan that puts them on the path to long-term success in math.

• How do you teach math? What curriculum do you use?

  At Mathnasium of McLean, we don’t follow a one-size-fits-all curriculum. Instead, we use the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach that blends structure with personalization. Each student receives a learning plan tailored to their specific skill level, learning style, and goals. 

  Our approach is designed to help students truly understand how math works, breaking down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps. This allows students to build a solid foundation for math mastery, improve problem-solving skills, and often transform how they think and feel about math. 

• Do you work with advanced students or with students who are struggling with math?

  Mathnasium of McLean works with students of all skill levels, empowering them to unlock their math potential. 

  Students who are behind in math receive targeted support and caring guidance focused on (re)building their foundational skills and confidence. Advanced learners benefit from enrichment opportunities designed to keep them engaged by challenging their thinking and introducing them to topics beyond their school curriculum. 

• Do you work with homeschooled students in McLean?

  Yes! We support K–12 students from all educational backgrounds, including homeschooled, private, and public school students in McLean and the surrounding suburbs.

• Do you help students with their math homework?

  Yes! Our tutors at Mathnasium of McLean set aside time during sessions to help students with their math homework and ensure they understand key concepts. 

• Does Mathnasium assign homework to students?

  No. All learning takes place during sessions with our specially trained tutors. We do not assign homework, allowing students to focus on making real progress during their time with us.

• Does Mathnasium of McLean prepare students for math on standardized tests?

  Yes! Mathnasium of McLean helps students prepare for standardized and school-based math tests, including state exams, ACT®, and SAT®.  

  Our test prep combines personalized learning plans, targeted practice, and proven strategies to help students succeed.
