  We work with K–12 students, with a special focus on students in grades 5–7, across a range of math subjects, from early arithmetic to Algebra and Geometry. 

  Our specially trained tutors help students develop foundational skills, improve academic performance, and build confidence in math.

• What does mathematics tutoring cost at Mathnasium of Mill Valley?

  We offer math-only tutoring through a flat monthly membership fee with no long-term contracts. Most students attend 2–3 times per week. A free assessment will help determine the best plan for your child.

• Why do you require an assessment for enrollment at Mathnasium of Mill Valley?

  Each student begins with a diagnostic assessment that helps us understand their current skill level, identify learning gaps, and learn more about their goals. These insights allow us to build a personalized learning plan tailored to their needs.

• How do you teach math? What curriculum do you use?

  At Mathnasium of Mill Valley, we don’t follow a set curriculum. We use the Mathnasium Method™, our proprietary teaching approach that blends structure with personalization. 

  Building upon what the student already knows, we add new concepts gradually, breaking them down into manageable steps to help them fill in their knowledge gaps, develop solid foundational skills, and even transform how they think and feel about math.

• Do you work with advanced students or with students who are struggling with math?

  Yes. We work with students at all skill levels, whether they are looking to catch up, keep up, or get ahead on their math journey. 

  Students who are struggling receive step-by-step instruction that builds confidence and understanding. Advanced learners are challenged with enrichment that encourages deeper thinking and growth.

• Do you offer math enrichment programs in Mill Valley?

  Yes, Mathnasium of Mill Valley brings math enrichment to students in-center as well as through after-school programs at 8 local schools and growing. 

  These programs give students access to the same personalized, caring instruction they would receive at our center, in a familiar school setting that makes it easy to participate.  

  Whether your child attends one of our school programs or visits us at the center, they receive the same high-quality, assessment-based support designed to help them catch up, keep up, or get ahead in math. 

• Do you work with homeschooled students in Mill Valley?

  Yes. We work with K–12 students from all educational backgrounds, including homeschool, public, and private school families throughout Mill Valley and nearby areas.

• Do you help students with their math homework?

  Yes. During sessions, our tutors set aside time to help students with their math homework and ensure they understand the material they are covering in school.

• Does Mathnasium assign homework to students?

  No. We do not assign homework. All learning takes place in our center under the guidance of specially trained tutors, so students can focus on building skills and making real progress.

• Do you prepare students for standardized tests?

  Yes. We help students prepare for math portions of standardized and school-based exams, including state assessments, ACT®, and SAT®. Our test prep includes personalized learning plans, targeted practice, and strategies for building confidence and success.
