Dave Franek, Center Director/Owner
Dave got his degree in Broadcast Management and spent a few years in the entertainment industry before switching to education. He studied secondary education at the University of Phoenix and scored 100% on the math portion of the Arizona Teacher Certification Exam. Dave has worked with kids as a Sunday school teacher and as a member of Valley Big Brothers. It is important for Dave to create an environment where math makes sense to kids but that is also a fun place to go to learn.
Aamir Patel, Instructor
Aamir is currently studying microbiology at ASU. He is an active part of the ASU community, serving as the Director of Finance of Challah for Hunger and Maroon and Gold Ambassadors. He is also part of R.I.S.E., a tutoring organization focusing on the mentoring and education of the local refugee population in Arizona. Aamir typically spends his Friday nights playing Dungeons & Dragons or Magic the Gathering with friends.
Aria Mathew, Instructor
Aria Mathew plans on attending GCU in the imminent future as a pre-law or pre-med student. She volunteers at her church and school regularly. Aria has been playing piano for an impressive thirteen years. During her free time she enjoys listening to music, watching Netflix, hiking, and baking.
Chaewon Jung, Instructor
Chaewon Jung will soon be attending North-Eastern where she will be majoring in Sociology and Marketing. She is avidly involved in her church where she is a bible study leader and praise team singer. Chaewon has been playing in the Phoenix Youth Symphony for eight years as a cellist.
James Cruz, Instructor
James Cruz just earned his B.S. in biochemistry from Arizona State University. He is currently finishing a prerquisite for physical therapy school, which he plans to attend. Apart from his academic life, he enjoys hiking, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and other relatively dangerous physical activities. James was recently accepted into the Peace Corps, and will be volunteering as a health educator in Cambodia from mid-2016 to 2018.
Josh Quenneville, Instructor
Josh just graduated from ASU with degrees in Math and Philosophy, and plans on becoming a professor/author one day. Josh has many hobbies such as reading books and watching movies. His favorite book is Gravity's Rainbow by Thomas Pynchon and his favorite movie is Magnolia. Josh likes spending time with his dog, Chester, and his best friend, James. Josh is "Quirk-Free" and his favorite color is Purple.
Emelia Dolson, Instructor
In high school, Emelia was on the Chandler High School dive team for 4 years. She frequently goes on paleontological digs with the Museum of Natural History. At ASU, she is studying Math and Geography.
Justin Lee, Instructor
Justin will be attending Northwestern University next year, where he will double major in Asian studies and economics. He was the Vice President of Basis Chandler Key Club, loves to play volleyball and he plays electric bass guitar for his church band.
Miya Love, Instructor
Miya recently moved to Chandler from Minnesota, where she was an instructor at Mathnasium of White Bear Lake. Miya is majoring in biology and eventually plans on attending veterinary school at Midwestern University. She volunteers at the Arizona Humane Society and has a dog named Clueah.
Emily England, Instructor
Emily will be majoring in business management and finance at NAU and is currently in theater and stage craft, enjoys painting and drawing. She has travelled to Jamaica and Haiti twice, both times on mission trips. She loves to travel and help people and also volunteers as a second grade leader at her church.
Ricardo Weir, Instructor
Ricardo Weir is working towards a B.S. in computer science. He will be transferring to ASU next fall. He attended Mesquite High School for a year then transferred to Humanities and Sciences Institute where he graduated at sixteen years of age. Ricardo was awarded the President's Scholarship for his entrance exam scores. He loves the Harry Potter series, anime, camping, cooking, reading, and learning new programming languages/skills.
