Jeremy
Lead Instructor
Jeremy is a student at Chemeketa Community College, working toward a career in education. He plans to transfer to Oregon State University or Western Oregon University to complete his degree in Elementary Education with a focus on math instruction. His favorite part of teaching is seeing that “lightbulb moment” when a concept finally clicks for a student.
Before joining Mathnasium, Jeremy worked in the private sector and developed a passion for helping others. Outside of teaching, he enjoys drawing, playing the drums, golfing, and creating Star Wars models with his 3D printer.
Colin
Instructor
Colin is pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics at Willamette University, where he maintains a 4.0 GPA. He has participated in national codebreaking competitions and earned both Proficient Codebreaker and Master Codebreaker honors. His coursework includes Abstract Algebra, Real Analysis, Number Theory, and Combinatorics.
Inspired by a high school teacher who showed him how fun math can be, Colin enjoys helping students discover that same excitement. In his free time, he fosters animals, plays board games, gardens, and creates art.
Normandy
Instructor
Normandy joined us in the fall of 2024 and is currently a freshman at Willamette University. Moving to the Willamette Valley from California, she was excited to have a Mathnasium only blocks from the university as she worked at her local Mathnasium back home. Normandy comes from a family of educators as her mother is a teacher which has fostered a desire to help others. This passion for education has lead to her not only tutoring at another Mathnasium but also for other families privately in her past. She has participated for over four years in her high school math club servicing as president for multiple years, participation in robotics, completed high school with a 4.25 GPA and scored a 31 on the ACT. Her desire to help others around her has led to volunteer opportunities with an animal shelter, an Adolescent Behavior Center. In her free time, Normandy enjoys reading, drawing, knitting/crocheting and spending time with her cat. Fun fact: Normandy can walk on stilts!
Cordelia
Instructor
Cordelia joined our team in December 2024 and is working towards two degrees at Willamette University aiming for a B.S. pf Physics and B.S. of Computer Science. Originally from Portland, Cordelia graduated with award as AP Scholar with Honor, National Honorable Mention for the NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Award, and Best Game Design at the Oregon Game Project Challenge. Passionate about helping others, Cordelia has assisted with serving free meals to those in need in her local community and by identifying and removing invasive plant species in local parks and helping plant native species. Knowing math is often a barrier to students who want to go into STEM fields, Cordelia wants to help children improve their skills and build their confidence. Enjoying the fact that math can be its own language, they enjoy that it can help explain other subjects. While appreciative of what they have, they want to continue to stretch their own experiences and explore new hobbies, ideas, and places. Fun Fact: Cordelia has balanced an egg on the Earth’s equator!
Rhys
Instructor
The Return! Rhys returned to our center in the fall of 2025 after having served as an instructor, lead instructor, and assistant center director previously. After some time away, she returns to help more of our students. Currently working towards a degree in psychology and biology at Western Oregon University, she has a career goal to become a clinical psychologist focused on working with adolescents. Rhys attended Mathnasium in her home state of Texas while in middle school and after seeing our center following her move to the area for college, she decided to pass on the positive experience she had as a student. Rhys is drawn to math as it feels like a puzzle, and it is rewarding to finally see how the pieces come together when you could not see it before. Excelling in math, Rhys scored high on AP tests including a 5 on AB Calculus, 4 on BC Calculus, 5 on Statistics, and over a 700 on the math portion of the SAT. In her spare time, Rhy likes to spend time writing journals, baking, and playing games with friends.
