Math Can Be Fun: We Really Mean It!

May 28, 2022 | Chilliwack

Math can be fun, like for real CA.

When thinking of fun things to do, math usually lands somewhere next to filing taxes and having dental work done. Oxford Learning states, "Math has a widespread reputation for being the subject students hate. It's not uncommon to hear 'I hate math class' or 'math is too hard'."

Is it math that students actually hate? Larry Martinek, creator of the Mathnasium Method, thinks otherwise. He explains, "Children don't hate math, what they hate is being confused, intimidated and embarrassed by math."

If the confusion, intimidation, and embarrassment were omitted, could more students enjoy math? Could it be, dare we say it, fun?

Of course! We know because that's what we do. We've seen it again and again and again.

At Mathnasium of Chilliwack, we use a patented and time-proven method to ensure understanding. With understanding comes confidence, and with confidence comes interest and excitement. Betterexplained recently published an article highlighting this concept. "Math is about ideas. Math problems are just ways to express them. Once the concept is clear, solving equations will snap into place." That 'snapping into place' is what we specialize in.

Ana N., a Mathnasium parent, has a daughter who used to struggle in math. After attending Mathnasium, Ana noted, "The Online Mathnasium classes helped my daughter with grade 10 foundations of math and precalculus. There was more time for homework and the instructors never rushed through her questions and made sure she understood. I wish I had taken the advice and enrolled her in online classes sooner! Thanks to Mathnasium online our daughter has been able to get A’s in math! “" Doesn't 'made sure she understood' sound a whole lot better than 'I hate math'?

Dawn S., another Chilliwack Mathnasium parent, explained it this way, "Our daughter loves coming to Math tutoring both in centre and online. We’re seeing her confidence and mindset improve that’s she’s good at math! Love the teaching approach and the teaching team. Thank you for providing this awesome option for families."

Our Mathnasium instructors are well-trained and ready to clear away the confusion of math, and introduce your student to the fun of math instead! Come in and meet our Director, Kayla, at Unit 107 - 5535 Vedder Road in Chilliwack. We can’t wait to get started! Sign up now for a Free Assessment!
