Meet the Team at Mathnasium of Downsview

Sara Shen

Sara is the owner at Mathnasium of Downsview. She got her B.S degree in Applied Mathematics, and have an MBA and M.A in Applied Economics from University of Central Florida, USA. Sara has taught and tutored children of all ages, and she is committed to bringing the Mathnasium Method to the children in the community. Married with 2 kids, Sara loves travel with family, plays intercountry tennis representing Richmond Hill Lawn Tennis Club.

Tri Vo

Tri is currently a graduate student at York University, where his research focuses on designing innovative wearable biosensors. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering from TMU, with minors in Math and Physics. Tri believes in teaching math not just as a subject, but as a vital tool for developing problem-solving skills. His passion for education was sparked by his own struggles in middle school, and he deeply appreciates the impact of a teacher who can connect with students. This connection is something he strives to achieve in his own teaching. In addition to his commitment to STEM, Tri enjoys cooking, composing music, and practicing street photography.

Viony Supandy

Viony graduated from the University of Toronto with a double major in Economics and Mathematics and a minor in Business. She appreciates math's clear and logical nature and is motivated to help students see its practical applications in everyday life, like deciding which detergent offers the best value for money! Outside of academics, Viony enjoys exploring new culinary experiences, traveling, and channeling her inner boxing champ.

Linh Vo

Linh is currently enrolling in business majoring in Finance and Statistics with a minor in Math. Math has always been her favourite subject at school growing up, so she wants to ensure her students feel the same way and help them become more confident in Math. She also loves reading, cooking and baking in her free time.

Danica Jandoc

Danica studied Business with a major in finance and is currently completing her diploma in International Business, while also serving as a peer tutor for college students. Her passion for math inspired her to volunteer as a teacher in her community since high school. In her free time, Danica enjoys painting pet portraits and solving jigsaw puzzles.

Hazel Doan

Hazel holds a degree in Economics and Finance from Toronto Metropolitan University. Her passion for Math comes from its power to offer logical solutions to real-world challenges, and she is driven to help others discover and appreciate the beauty of Mathematics. As a Math Instructor, her primary goal is to foster strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills that students can carry into any field. Outside of teaching, Hazel enjoys traveling with her family, immersing herself in diverse cultures, and exploring new cuisines during her journeys.

Ashby Kissoondoyal

Ashby is currently a PhD student at York University studying developmental neuroscience. His work looks into how the environment can affect how a child will be born. He has taught children of a variety of ages and loves teaching. Ashby believes that being able to make connections between the things that we learn, and life outside of a textbook is one of the things that makes math so exciting. Outside of school, Ashby enjoys playing all kinds of board games and looking for unique, good-tasting food.
