Mathnasium of Hamilton Mountain COVID-19 SAFETY POLICY

Keeping students, parents, and employees safe and healthy has always been our highest priority. To create such an environment, we implemented the following policy.

What we changed

  1. Removed all items sharable by students
  2. Removed all chairs from the waiting room to avoid unsafe distances
  3. Spaced the tables to increase the distance between the students
  4. Removed extra chairs, leaving the entire table for one student
  5. Provided Mathnasium pencil case with a pen and a pencil to each student
  6. Implemented scheduled lessons to keep the number of students at any given time within safe capacity of the Centre
  7. Provided re-usable facemasks to all students taking lessons in-Centre
  8. Installed plexiglass sneeze guards between students and instructors
  9. Installed plexiglass sneeze guards between side-by-side tables
  10. Marked 6-ft safe distance on the floor
  11. Posted COVID-19 Warning Note on the Centre’s door
  12. Create a sanitation station at the entrance of the Centre
  13. Provided alcohol-based hand sanitizer at the sanitation station
  14. Spaced in-centre sessions by 5 minutes to allow time for disinfection
  15. Started to disinfect binders, desks, sneeze guards, chairs after every session
  16. Started to disinfect light switches, door handles, and hand sanitizer dispensers every hour.

What our instructors do

  1. Stay home if feeling unwell
  2. Wear facemask at all time
  3. Complete COVID-19 screening form before starting your shift
  4. Sanitize hands before and after your shift
  5. Disinfect your working area before and after your shift
  6. Disinfect student’s binder, desk, sneeze guard and chair right after the session ends
  7. Wash hands for 20 seconds every hour and after disinfecting student’s desk
  8. When possible, keep safe 6’ distance
  9. Bring your own water bottle to stay hydrated

What our students do

What our parents and guardians do

  1. If your child is feeling unwell, coughing, or sneezing, we do kindly request that they stay home to recuperate
    1. This missed lesson can be re-scheduled, or banked as a vacation day, or taken via Mathnasium@home
    2. If your child starts feeling unwell during the lesson, we will ask you to come and pick them up
  2. Send your child with the own water bottle to stay hydrated
    1. Staying hydrated is important
    2. We removed our shared the water dispensers
  3. While in Centre wear facemask at all time
    1. Everyone in the Centre must wear a facemask as ALL time
  4. Sanitize hands every time you enter and exit the Centre
    1. We do provide a hand sanitizer at the sanitation station
  5. Keep 6’ safe distance
    1. Follow the markers on the floor
  6. Bring in and pick up your student on time
    1. We have only 1 emergency seat for a student if the parents are late
  7. Wait for your student outside the Centre
    1. We are very sorry for the inconvenience, but we removed all chairs from the waiting area
  8. Before coming to the center, perform student’s self-screening by answering the (based on //www.health.gov.on.ca/en/pro/programs/publichealth/coronavirus/docs/2019_patient_screening_guidance.pdf)
    1. Did you travel outside of Canada in the past 14 days?
    2. Have you tested positive for COVID-19 or had close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 without wearing appropriate PPE?
    3. Do you have any of the following symptoms?
      1. Fever
      2. New onset of cough
      3. Worsening chronic cough
      4. Shortness of breath
      5. Difficulty breathing
      6. Sore throat
      7. Difficulty swallowing
      8. Decrease of loss of sense of taste or smell
      9. Chills
      10. Headaches
      11. Unexplained fatigue/malaise/muscle aches (myalgias)
      12. Nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain
      13. Pink eye (conjunctivitis)
      14. Runny nose or nasal congestion without other known cause
