Dr. Haibin Zhu is the Centre Director and Owner at Mathnasium of North Bay. He is a full professor and Coordinator of the Computer Science Programme at Nipissing University. With decades of experience in academia, Dr. Zhu is also the Founding Director of the Collaborative Systems Laboratory and serves on several university committees.
He holds a BSc in Computer Engineering, and MSc and PhD degrees in Computer Science. With deep expertise in computational systems and education, he brings exceptional insight and care to supporting students in building strong math foundations.
Jing Zhang is a certified teacher in Ontario and a Centre Director at Mathnasium of North Bay. She earned a BA from Hunan Normal University and a BEd from Nipissing University, graduating with distinction.
With over a decade of experience teaching both in China and North America, Jing brings a global perspective and a nurturing approach to the classroom. She is passionate about making math accessible and believes every child can thrive when given personalized support and encouragement.
Collin Brisson is a certified teacher and Lead Instructor at Mathnasium of North Bay. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Biology and a Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University, and is qualified to teach math, chemistry, and biology for grades 7 through 12.
Since joining Mathnasium in 2021, Collin has focused on helping students build confidence and appreciation for mathematics. Now also a full-time secondary math teacher, he continues to support students in achieving their personal math goals.
Nicolai MacKenzie is an Instructor at Mathnasium of North Bay. He holds a BSc and BEd from Nipissing University, where he studied Environment and Physical Geography and was active in student leadership and community engagement.
Nicolai has experience teaching students from kindergarten to grade 9 and values building meaningful connections with learners. He fosters a supportive environment where students feel encouraged to take on challenges and grow their confidence in math.
Tommy Ke Gong is an MSc candidate in Mathematics at Nipissing University and an Instructor at Mathnasium of North Bay. He completed his undergraduate degree in Computer Science at the University of Toronto in 2024.
As a teaching assistant for university-level math courses, Tommy excels at simplifying complex concepts and guiding students through structured problem-solving. He is dedicated to helping learners overcome challenges and achieve academic success in mathematics.
Jiajun Li, BSc., holding an Advanced Diploma in Software Engineering Technology – Artificial Intelligence from Centennial College in 2024, and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University with a major in Food Science and Technology in 2020, took the chance of math tutoring in North Bay with his passion in teaching youth generation and solid academic foundation. With the experience being a research assistant at both Virginia Tech focusing on Food Waste Reuse and Nipissing University in computer science and mathematics, he brings a wide range of knowledge and creativity to his teaching. At Mathnasium, he took complete instructor training program and is qualified for teaching students under tenth grade. He is a father himself and the passion comes from his pure love to children. He enjoys using patient, encouraging attitude to help young learners understand concepts, build problem-solving skills, and gain confidence in math, while continuing to grow his expertise to inspire students to enjoy learning.
Rowen Karim is a high school student currently attending Chippewa Secondary School. He is currently enrolled in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Outside of studies, Rowen is an active member of both his school and club basketball teams. After completion of high school, Rowen is looking to pursue a degree in engineering.
