Transitioning from a career in Electrical Engineering to joining Mathnasium has been an incredible journey for me. Having used my math knowledge in Semiconductor Industry as a Circuit Design Engineer for seven years, I've developed a deep appreciation for mathematical concepts and formulas. Now, I'm excited to share that passion with others and teach math in creative ways. At Mathnasium, my goal is to make math not only understandable but also interesting and engaging for all students. I believe that math doesn't have to be scary; it can be fun! I like to connect with my students and help them realize their full potential. I believe that its important to create an environment where they feel confident and motivated to embrace math instead of giving up on it. By encouraging them to see math as a tool for understanding the world around them, I hope to instil a lifelong love for Mathematics Being part of the Mathnasium community allows me to combine my passion for mathematics with my desire to make a positive impact on young minds. I'm grateful for the opportunity to inspire the next generation of mathematicians and problem solvers.

Cathy W

Instructor

Hi, I’m Cathy. I have 2 years of tutoring experience at Mathnasium and over 4 years of private tutoring experience. I am a passionate instructor who enjoys working with kids. I believe education is meaningful because it can change a child’s life through guidance, inspiration, and knowledge. I can use my strength in simplifying complicated math concepts into clear, digestible ideas and easy-to-follow steps. My goal is to ensure every student can understand the concepts and apply them right away, building both their math skills and their confidence.

In my daily work at Mathnasium, I support students by engaging them with different manipulatives and breaking down complex concepts into simple, easy-to-understand steps based on the teaching materials provided. I also motivate and encourage students through a variety of reward systems from Mathnasium—such as spinning the wheel, rolling a dice, bowling games, and monthly calendars—so they can earn stars and trade them for prizes as recognition for their effort. I believe that with Mathnasium’s well-designed learning materials and the power of positive reinforcement, students can take meaningful steps toward success.
