Keichii Iguchi, Lead Instructor

Hi, my name is Keiichi. Math is one of the most important concepts in our life that we utilize often without even noticing. Many of the items that we use every day are based on the ideas and theories that our great predecessors devoted their lives pondering the truth of the world we live in. I believe that math is an essential of life, therefore I stress the importance of understanding and mastery of many math concepts that we encounter in our early stages of the school curriculum. I too have faced many difficulties of overcoming challenging problems during my early life and understand the overwhelming feeling that many students encounter, eventually giving up math in all. I stand here to reach out to not only to students as such but any variety that may have the simplest questions that they may be afraid to ask in class. The intensive program of math will build a foundation for a great career and beyond for any kind of student, so I wish to spread the understanding to everybody. As I currently continue to pursue my mechanical engineering degree, never have I had a moment where math was not incorporated, which strengthens my stance of how important even the most basic of math skills will be utilized to strive such an intensive pathway. I acknowledge that many students will encounter a great wall sooner or later and here, I will work my best to assist and eventually guide students to a great math career as a proud math tutor and Mathnasium of Conyers team member.

Kep Nana, Instructor

Hello, my name is Kep Nana. I currently attend the Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology. Math has always been my favorite subject because I like the problem solving and critical thinking that goes behind it. I am currently in Calculus I and I am also on my school’s math team. I recently became interested in teaching math because I want others to see the fun in mathematics and help others understand it more clearly and not be as intimidated. Mathnasium was a great place to take advantage of this goal and I like helping the students set a good foundation for math by using our method now matter how old. I like all of the various teaching methods at my disposal to help the students become better and have increased knowledge of a certain concept.

Leah Edwards, Instructor

Hello! My name is Leah Edwards and I am a junior in the magnet program at Chamblee Charter High School. I am currently taking Honors Calculus. Growing up, math was never my favorite subject, nor the class I excelled the most in. However, because of this it always encouraged me to practice and study harder so that I felt more comfortable with the concepts and better grasped the material. Math has taught me quite a bit about persistence and the notion of "practice makes perfect." As an instructor at Mathnasium, I hope to do the best I can to share with other students how valuable and intriguing math can be as long as you keep working at it. Outside of the classroom, I love to read, travel, and ride horses, three things I have been doing since before the age of four. Along with helping our mathletes be the best at math they can be, I'd love to offer book recommendations, have discussions about the world we live in, and share my passion for horses!

Mary Brown, Instructor

Mary Brown.  I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia Tech.  I worked as an Environmental Engineer for 26 years.  My experience instructing children include a year as a paraprofessional at a Dekalb County elementary school.  I joined the team at Mathnasium of Conyers with hopes of convincing as many children as I can that they can learn to love math as much as I do.

Fatima Drammeh, Instructor

Hi! My name is Fatima and I am currently a Junior at the Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology. I am taking AP Calculus AB right now and am also a member of the Mu Alpha Theta: National Mathematics Honor Society. This means I have maintained a 3.0 or higher in 6 semesters of college preparatory mathematics classes. I am also a member of the Debate team at school. I believe math is truly the foundation for all things in life. It helps develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that other classes simply won't touch basis on. My goal here at Mathnasium is to help our Mathletes build and maintain their critical thinking skills while making math fun!

Brandon Hong, Instructor

My name is Brandon Hong, and I’m currently a senior at the Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology. I enjoy math because there are many ways to solve a single problem, and if your reasoning is correct, you can obtain the correct answer. I am currently taking AP Calculus BC, made a 5 on the AP Calculus AB exam, and am a member of my school’s math team. I enjoy programming and reading, as well as playing video games with my friends in my spare time

Jonathan Smiley, Instructor

Greetings, my name is Jonathan Smiley, and I attend Rockdale County High School and take part in their IAT program. Since 6th grade, I've excelled at the top of my class in math. As of right now, I am taking AP Statistics, but I also have Advanced Algebra, Accelerated Pre-Calculus, and AP Calculus AB under my belt. Along with my love for math, I also have a love for helping people in need. During the summer of 2018, I spent many weeks at a food bank loading people's cars up with free groceries. When I heard about Mathnasium and the kind of work they did, I realized there couldn't be a better place to combine the two. My cousins that are a bit younger than me struggle with math frequently and come to me for assistance and math homework help, which brings us closer even if we're so far apart, so when I decided to become an Instructor, I aimed for the same thing. Although they may not be family, I want to get to know every mathlete I come across through math and build an understanding of the subject for each one so that they may achieve goals they never thought possible before.

CenterDirectorSafron Smith, Instructor

Hi, my name is Safron Smith and I grew up in Conyers. I attended Agnes Scott College and received a BA in psychology and math. After receiving my degree, I spent two years living on a tiny island in the Pacific Ocean teaching math and directing a volunteer program through a US-based non-profit organization, WorldTeach. Upon return, I taught preschool in a Reggio Emilia- inspired school. Currently, I teach 2nd grade at High Achievers Education Center, a private school here in Conyers and I am excited to bring all of my experiences to Mathnasium!

Cameron Lynn, Instructor

Hi, my name is Cameron Lynn and I am a senior at Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology. I am currently in the AP Calculus BC. I have also taken the most recent versions of the ACT and SAT Test, receiving a 680 out of 800 on the Math portion of the SAT and a 27 out 33 on the Math portion of the ACT. I have always enjoyed math and it has always been my favorite class in school. It came easily to me because I was always able to find the tricks that made everything easier for myself and that was fun for me. One of my hobbies is chess, which I have been playing since I was in 1st grade. I became a chess instructor in 9th grade and have been an instructor ever since! I thoroughly enjoy passing on my knowledge of chess to my students, and I welcome the opportunity to pass this on to Mathnasium students, as well.
