Devyn Collins, Center Director
Devyn is a highly motivated licensed educator with a strong commitment to community service who has a Masters in Education from Merrimack College. She joins Mathnasium from Next Level Up, a personalized tutoring/coaching organization that assesses student's learning styles and helps them persevere through their current barriers to success. Devyn has experience classroom teaching at Newman Elementary and Walker School in Needham. She has also managed teams in retailing and non-profit housing industries. Devyn is a strong advocate for children who utilizes a strengths-based approach that enables students to excel by setting long-term goals and rewarding hard work and achievement. Devyn is drawn to Mathnasium by her passion for working with families in order to help students achieve their greatest potential.
Michayla Kelly - Assistant Center Director
Michayla is an accomplished Dancer and Mathematician.
Michayla graduated from Goucher College where she double-majored in Mathematics and Dance. She graduated Summa Cum Laude and won the prestigious Julia Rogers Research Prize for her capstone paper, The Fundamental Shared Essence of Dance and Mathematics. She has danced professionally for The Jose Mateo Ballet Theatre, VLA DANCE, and Odyssey Opera. She is also currently teaching Ballet at The Franklin School of Performing Arts. Michayla has a passion for tutoring Math and teaching dance. She also has a passion for problem solving, patterns and puzzles.
John M. Harris, Jr., CFA - Co-Owner
John is drawn to Mathnasium by a passion for learning, coaching, and contributing to kids' lives. John loves helping kids extend their math skills in a fun and energetic environment. Prior to Mathnasium, John had 25+ years experience managing money and leading investment research teams at Fidelity, Morgan Stanley, Citadel, and CJ3 Investments. John graduated from the Hotchkiss School, Princeton University, and the Wharton School. John has been recognized as a Top Gun Investment Mind and is a member of the Boston Society of Securities Analysts. John lives in Boston with his wife Jessie and their kids Charlotte and Jack - who are are psyched to join this math journey. In his free time, John enjoys golf, skiing, doubles squash, coaching lacrosse, backgammon, the Patriots, and reading.

Muram Bacare - Instructor
Muram joins us as a senior at the Rhode Island School of Design. She is pursuring her bachelors degree in both Architecture and Fine Art. She has worked as a tutor for the Boston Public Library throughout high school, where she taught core curriculum subjects to K-12 students adn served as a mentor. Her passion for math comes from here involvement in MIT's STEM programs, SEED Academy and MITES. She enjoys working with children, as she has two younger sisters herself. When she is not in the classroom or working with students, she enjoys reading Khaled Hosseini books and making jewelry.
Ryan Baker - Instructor
Ryan is a great student who consistently finishes toward the top of his class. He is going into junior year at Sharon High School. Ryan finished his sophomore year with an A in Algebra II and is currently taking Pre-Calculus. Ryan enjoys playing sports, including baseball and basketball for his school and club teams. He participates in groups like YouthLEAD, Friendship Circle of Sharon, and Classroom Connection where he works with and tutors kids.
Breatney Barthelemy - Instructor
Breatney graduated from Boston Latin Academy and is a freshman at U Mass Amherst studying Sociology and Business. Apart from school, she is a mental health advocate with the Youth Advisory Board of the Boston Public Health Commission and a volunteer at Brigham and Women's Hospital. She loves working with kids and is excited to be apart of the Mathnasium team.
Melissa Choate - Instructor
Melissa earned a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education at Emmanuel College and a Masters in Education at Northeastern. She has been teahing for 9 years in a variety of positions. Her teaching experience includes middle and high school Math, Science, and STEM. She currently teaches Geometry and Algebra 1 at Cardinal Spellman High School in Brockton, MA. She is also involved with the mission trips run through the school and has been to Nicaragua and Jamaica over the past four years helping to serve at an orphanage for children with mental and physical disabilities.
David D'Alessandro - Instructor
In addition to loving math, David is an avid athlete and volunteer. David captains the football team and plays on the baseball team at Roxbury Latin School, where is currently a Junior. Along with athletics, David is a mentor for incoming students new to the school and a member of Habitat for Humanity. Outside school, David volunteers at the Immigrant Family Services Institute in Roslindale. In his free tinme, David loves playing the guitar and watching football.

Jillian Goober - Instructor
Jillian is a student at Villanova University studying Comprehensive Science on a PreMed track. She passed her AB Calculus AP exam at Wellesley High School and completed Caclulus II at Villanova. Jillian loves working with kids and worked at Wellesley High School's Child Lab in her senior year. Jillian has been a competitive dancer for 9 years and is currently part of the Villanova Dance Company as well as teaching dance at Linx Dance Studio.
Dylan Gramuglia - Instructor
Hi - my name is Dylan Gramuglia. I've veen working at Avery Elementary School since the 2017-2018 school year. I work as a paraprofessional, which means I work in inclusion and pull students out to work on specific skills in Mathematics and Reading. I graduated from Curry College in 2018 with a double major in Education and ILS. I am continuing my education by pursuing my Masters degree. I played Defensive End on the Curry College football team! I'm originally from New Jersey ... so Go Yankees! I can't wait to work with all of the kids and to learn and grow together!
Sebastian Heiser - Instructor
Sebastian just graduated from UMASS Amherst with a BS in Business Management. He also obtained an associates degree in Business Administration from Massbay Community College. Sebastian wants to work at Mathnasium because he loves working with children and wants to help them grow into competent young men and women. His favorite pastime is soccer, where he spends most of his free time either playing or watching. He is also currently taking Hungarian lessons in his free time and wants to move to Ireland some day, where he studied abroad in 2019!
Amelia Layne - Instructor
Amelia was Valedictorian of Dedham High School in 2019. While at Dedham High, Amelia was President of the Dedham HighSchool Math Team and was involved in the New England Math League competitions. Amelia is an animal lover who has cats and an extensive home fish collection.
Melissa Ligure - Instructor
Melissa is earning her BS in Applied Mathematics from UMass Amherst. She hopes to someday work as a data scientist. She is the fourth generation in her family to study mathematics, dating back to her great-grandfather, who founded one of the first institutions dedicated to computer science in 1959. Melissa knows as well as anyone that it's not always easy to grasp new ideas—and she believes that's exactly what makes those "A-Ha!" moments feel so special. Aside from math, Melissa enjoys gardening, yoga, live music and travel. Melissa was a member of UMass' long-form comedy improv troupe, Toast!
Yukun Liu - Instructor
Yukun steps onboard from University of Massacchussets Lowell or UML for short where he is currently at the cusp of obtaining a bachelor’s degree in mathematics. Besides his drive to excel at his own mathematical studies, Yukun also hopes that other people can appreciate the numbers game. During his off time, Yukun enjoys reading classical science fiction and is partial to cooking and video games. His favorite animal is the Capybara, an aquatic giant guinea pig!
Julia Prior - Instructor
Julia is a junior at Harvard University studying Economics and Psychology. She has taken many Math and Education courses. Julia loves working with kids and helping them build confidence in their Math skills. Outside of school, she is a part of an investment club and a teen mentor. Julia enjoys reading, rowing, hiking and spending time with family & friends.
Emma Roberts - Instructor
Emma is a student at Wellesley College majoring in Neuroscience and minoring in Teaching and Learning Studies. She is on track to get her Massachusetts teaching license for grades 1-6. She also has coursework in math through multivariable calculus. Emma comes to Mathnasium with experience as a volunteer after school math tutor at a middle school as well as a private tutor to a middle school student. Emma enjoys working with kids, and her favorite part about tutoring is getting kids excited about math and helping them realize all they are capable of. She believes math is for everyone and that with the proper tools and support, anyone can achieve mastery in the subject. Math has always been one of Emma’s favorite subjects, and she is excited to show students how fun and rewarding it can be. She cannot wait to instill a love of mathematics in the students she works with. In her free time, Emma enjoys springboard diving, hula hooping, writing poetry, and art.
Morgan Sipp - Instructor
Morgan is currently a senior at Dover-Sherborne High School and recorded a nearly perfect SAT score in Math. She is looking forward to attending Southern Methodist University in the fall of 2019. She is the eldest of four siblings and loves kids. Morgan is a champion horse jumper and has won several Blue Ribbons on her horse Gunner.
Danielle Tarchara - Instructor
Danielle is currently pursuing her Master of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Boston College. Danielle graduated in 2019 from Stonehill College with a BA in Elementary Education and Mathematics, and she has her Massachusetts teaching license for grades 1-6. At Stonehill College, Danielle was a teaching assistant for Calculus 1 and 2, tutored at a homework center for middle and high school students, and completed various placements across the elementary grade levels. Danielle was also a recipient of the Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship funded through the National Science Foundation. This scholarship is designed for students who major in both education and mathematics and are committed to teaching math in a high-need school. On top of her passions for teaching and math, Danielle loves to read, spend time with family and friends, and play the clarinet.
Steven Tran - Instructor
Steven is a student pursuing a computer science degree at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He has taken math up to multivariable calculus and linear algebra and passed the AP Calculus and AP Statistics exams. Steven is passionate about helping other people learn. He has also tutored high school and middle school students for the homework club at his high school. Some of Steven’s hobbies involve building computers and keyboards, playing video games, 3D printing, and watching romantic comedies.
In addition to being a two sport high school athlete, Nathan takes his academics extremely seriously. Mathematics is his favorite subject! Nathan previously coached a program called Basketball Stars whihc allows athletes with learning disabilities to receive a chance to play. He also formerly hosted a local television sports talk show. Going into Junior year at Sharon High, Nathan is intrigued by a career involving finance/economics.
Priscilla Zhang - Instructor
Priscilla hopes to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering and Business Management next year, after her Senior year at Norwood High School. She currently plans to take the BC Calculus exam in May, and she receieved a near-perfect Math score on the ACT. Outside of the classroom, Priscilla is Vice President of the National Honor Society at Norwood High and an activce member of the music community. She is a member of her school's wind ensemble, concert band, symphonic orchestra, and marching band! in addition, she is passionate about giving back to her community, and she volunteers her weekends to teach English online to impoverished students in China.
