Our Team

Our specially trained math instructors will teach your child how to understand math in an individual setting; our unique approach enables us to explain concepts really well and lend a helping hand to every student. CenterDirectorNeetha Govind, Center Director / Owner

Neetha Govind is the Center Director at Mathnasium Diamond. After hearing and learning about the Mathnasium philosophy and teaching methods, she knew immediately that this is the ideal way for her to serve the children in our community.She strongly believes that kids do not really 'hate math' what they hate, is being frustrated, embarrassed and confused by math.

Neetha is enthusiastic and excited to help your child 'catch-up, keep up and get ahead' in math by teaching it in the way that makes sense to them.

 

CenterDirectorStephen Tran, Owner

Stephen Tran has a degree from the University Of Santa Barbara, CA as a chemist. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree from Ferris State University, Michigan. After graduating from Pharmacy School, he decided to reside in Reno, Nevada and has been working as a Pharmacist in this community for the last 12 years.  He and his wife Sydney together have 3 kids Madison, Jayden and Brandon.

Stephen is very excited about the Mathnasium curriculum becasue it teaches in a way that all great math teachers would if they had time to do so. He looks forward to many 'AHAH' moments with children who just may surprise themselves and develop a love for mathematics also. He is a big believer in the value of number sense in everyday life and can't wait to begin opening kids up to this fun world of math by 'teaching math the way it makes sense to them'. With proper instruction and opportunity, he believes that ANY student can succeed in math.

 

Bryce Hunt , Instructor

 Bryce is a TMCC graduate with an A.S. in Mathematics. He  enjoys creating/making things, drawing, camping, and learning new things.

 Bryce likes that at Mathnasium we focus on building skills,  not memorizing them.

     "I love seeing the math-lightbulbs go on in students' eyes as an 'Oh! This isn't all that bad. I've got this.'"

 Veena Veerappan, Lead Instructor 

Veena is a UNR student who is majoring in Accounting and Information Systems. She enjoys building  things, listening to music, baking deserts and reading.

Veena loves teaching students new and easier ways to understand and solve math problems, and believes that the Mathnasium teaching method makes  it more enjoyable for the students.

 Zuriah Quinton, Lead Instructor

 Zuriah is a student at UNR, working on a double major in Math and Physics. She loves spending time and playing board games with her friends.

Zuriah believes that the Mathnasium system gives students the confidence they need to do well in math.

 Erica is a pre-med Biology Major at UNR. She enjoys listening to music and playing piano.

Iris Kim, Instructor

Iris is studying at UNR, double majoring in Business and Education. Iris loves photography, listening to music, and kickboxing.

Iris loves spending time with family and loved ones.  She also loves working with kids, and this is what drew her to apply at Mathnasium.

John Lee, Instructor

John is a student at UNR, pursuing a B.S. Biomedical Engineering degree with minors in C.S.E. and Mathematic Academia. He enjoys coding, building computers, and playing piano.

John teaches at Mathnasium because, “I believe in a better way to teach math.”

Evan Liu, Instructor

Evan is currently enrolled at UNR, pursuing a degree in Biochemistry and molecular biology, and aspires to become a doctor. Evan enjoys playing violin and hanging out with his friends in his free time.

Evan came to work for Mathnasium because he enjoys helping people who are in need of math tutoring. “I love seeing the students’ faces when they learn something new!”

Vinh Lee, Instructor

Vinh is a senior at Reno High School, and plans on pursuing an Engineering degree with a Mathematics minor.  Vinh loves to cook, as it is his “favorite pastime.”

Vinh teaches here because, “I love math and teaching is something that I believe is beneficial for everyone.”

Matthew Shepherd, Instructor

Matthew is a senior at Bishop Manogue High School, and plans on enrolling in college after high school. He enjoys sleeping, eating, and running.

Matthew loves seeing kids smile and succeed, which is why he enjoys teaching at Mathnasium.

Bekah is a sophomore at Hug High School, and she plans to go to college to earn a degree in either chemical research or neuroscience. Bekah finds enjoyment in reading and playing the violin.

Kaviny Giritharan, Instructor

Kaviny is a senior at Reno High School, and plans to pursue a degree in Microbiology and Immunology at UNR. She likes listening to music, playing tennis, and scrapbooking.

Raksha Giri, Instructor

Raksha is a student at UNR , working toward a biology major with goals to become a doctor. In her free time she likes to listen to music, read, watch movies, and dance.

Raksha wanted to teach at Mathnasium because she loves working with kids, and finds it really nice to be able to help them out with math.
