Bon Chau, Center Director
Bon is the Center Director at Mathnasium of Glendora. Bon has been center director for more than 10 years, understanding well in Mathnasium Method and experienced in teaching the students in the way that makes sense to them. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA, in which it provided a solid foundation on the math skills. He has taught and tutored over hundreds of students of all ages, and he is committed to bringing the math skills to his students by using an unique combination of mental, verbal, visual, tactile and written techniques. He also spends time with each student to find out his/her best learning style (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic).
Working in Mathnasium since 2011, Bon found this position as a perfect place to fulfill his goal of teaching math to children and reach out to the local communities in Glendora and the surrounding area.
Besides teaching, Bon also has different kinds of hobbies such as photography, biking, guitar, etc. He is also one of the advisors in the College Fellowship in his church, First Chinese Baptist Church Los Angeles. In addition, he has been visiting different third world countries, along with his lovely wife Athena, in order to bless the people and to share the Good News with them.
Alcira, Lead Instructor
Alcira has joined our team since 2016. She is a Chemical Engineering major at Cal Poly Pomona. Her favorite subjects are math and chemistry. In her free time she enjoys hiking and reading.
Matthew has joined our team since 2019. His is a graduate from California State University Fullerton with a degree in Mathematics. He hopes to soon get his teaching credential. He has previously tutored students in college courses as well as students in middle school. Through teaching he hopes he can give students the ability to connect mathematics with the real world.
Mario has joined our team in 2019. He is currently attending Citrus College and is working towards a degree in Civil Engineering. As a kid, he always found a love for math and it was his favorite subject in school. Math has always been hard but he knows its always satisfying to find a solution and have everything come together. He has always been very intrigued by the way math works and has a real passion for it. Then environment in Mathnasium has been "absolutely amazing" and working with the kids has really made him excited to be a part of the team.
Jacob has joined our team in 2021. He is currently a student at Mt. San Antonio College in the Computer Science program. Math has always been his favorite subject, and he loves to help others. He has previous experience with teaching middle and high school students. Some of his hobbies include music, cooking, and video games.
Chaandan has joined our team in 2021. He is currently a student in the Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy Program at Pepperdine University. His undergraduate degree was attained at Whittier College in 2019. He has a passion for working with kids and it is what drives him in his pursuit of a career in child therapy. Some of his hobbies include writing, taking hikes, and just about anything that involves competition.
Danielle has joined our team in 2021. She majored in Psychology at the University of Washington and is accepted into a doctoral physical therapy program. Her mom was a math teacher and she always enjoyed math in school. Danielle enjoys running, hiking and music.
