Daniel Wu, Center Director
Dan is the Center Director at Mathnasium of Horsham. Prior to opening his Mathnasium center, Dan worked in the financial industry as a trader and portfolio manager. He has a BS in Finance and Economics from Villanova University and spent two semesters studying abroad at Oxford University. Having always wanted to do more for the community, Dan decided to use his finance and business expertise to open a Mathnasium and is enthusiastic about helping every child truly understand math by teaching it in the way that makes sense to them. Dan is deeply familiar with math concepts and computation and understands that kids learn in a variety of ways and believes that the Mathnasium method of teaching can truly change a child’s attitude towards math. In his freetime, Dan enjoys hiking, snowboarding, and is an avid golfer.
Sophia Shnitser, Instructor
Sophia is currently a sophomore at Boston University. She is very accomplished in math, scoring a 1570 on her SATs and has taken Honors level math courses all throughout middle school and high school and is currently taking AP Calculus AB.
Sophia has always been interested in math, but has also taken advanced placement courses in science, English, and social studies, and Spanish. She loves teaching math because there is always more than one approach to each problem, and she likes being able to help students understand a subject that she is passionate about. Outside of academics, Sophia enjoys listening to music, spending time with her friends, and hiking. She was also on her high school’s
track team and was a member of the National Honor Society.
Tara Aldrich, Instructor
Tara is a career educator with over 20 years of instructional experience. She is certified in K-8 instruction, middle school math, and educational leadership. For the last 7 years Tara has operated Educators On Call, an educational staffing agency that provides schools and educational programs with guest teachers. It was her desire to work directly with young people again that led her to the Mathnasium team.
Ryan Brown, Instructor
Ryan is a recent graduate from Temple University with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Computer Science. Ryan has always been fascinated by numbers and how to manipulate them. In his free time, Ryan likes to educate/entertain himself watching Youtube videos.
Xavier Cruz, Instructor
Xavier is currently a sophomore studying Computer Engineering at Penn State Abington. He has taken Honors Math courses throughout middle school and high school. Xavier has always loved math and solving problems, especially in subjects like chemistry and physics. He loves working with all of the students at the center, and will do anything he can to make sure they are understanding the material. Outside of Mathnasium, he is involved with team sports such as soccer and track. Over the summer, he also play golfs and caddies at a country club.
Christina Grigoryan, Instructor
Christina is a nursing major at Thomas Jefferson University. She has been taking honors math classes since middle school. She has tutored math as well as other subjects for over 2 years. She loves working with students and seeing them learn and grow. In her free time, she plays tennis and volunteers.
Lexi Takashima, Instructor
Lexi is currently a junior at Hamilton College majoring in Psychology and minoring in Mathematics. She attended high school at Choate Rosemary Hall in Connecticut where she took honors math courses and acted as a peer math tutor. She has taken a variety of college math courses, ranging from Psychology statistics to multivariable calculus, and looks forward to finishing her minor with linear algebra. Her favorite aspect of math is that it can be relevantly applied across all disciplines, which she experiences throughout all of her college courses. Outside of academics, Lexi is a member of the field hockey team and a former member of the ice hockey team at Hamilton, and she is a member of the College’s Judicial Board
Matthew Timofeev, Instructor
Matthew is a senior at Central Bucks High School South, also studying advanced math outside of school. He enjoys math for its sense of beauty and because the answer is either right or wrong without an in-between. Once he sees a math video on Youtube, he will lose as many hours of sleep as needed in order to solve it. Outside of math, he enjoys playing the violin, taking long walks, and obsessively listening to Shostakovich in his spare time.
Sarah Becker, Instructor
Sara is currently a sophomore at Penn State Abington and is studying computer science. She enjoys learning new concepts, and the art of math inspired her choice of major. She has taken honor math classes in high school as well as various college math courses. She’s passionate about teaching and will do all she can to help students to understand and enjoy math as well. Outside of Mathnasium, she serves in the restaurant industry. She also enjoys reading a good book.
David Kwon, Instructor
David is currently a junior at New York University studying economics policy with minors in chemistry and business studies. He has been involved in many volunteer programs in the previous years, such as tutoring underprivileged high school students in Manhattan and Brooklyn to prepare them for both SHSATs and SATs. David has taken a variety of math classes with success, ranging from economic calculus to chemistry mathematics. In his free time, David enjoys powerlifting, reading books, and writing articles for Medium.com.
Donna Hoang, Instructor
Donna is a recent graduate from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelors's degree in political science and a minor in education. She has tutored various subjects throughout her four years of college and enjoys working with children of all ages. She is passionate about discovering unique pedagogies that help students not only obtain new skill sets but also develop a long term interest in subjects like math. In her free time, she likes to read books, watch movies, hike, and travel.
