Our staff is built to teach each student individually, to develop the skills they need to thrive in mathematics, and to foster a love of learning.

Naji Rodes

Assistant Center Director
If you stop by the Center, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and talk with Naji, our Assistant Center Director. Naji started his career as a tutor in 2016, providing academic support to college students in a variety of calculus-based physics courses. When he came to Mathnasium in 2021, he delved deeply into the theory of math education at a primary school level. He is now equally at home teaching addition to a second grader as teaching trigonometry to a high schooler. Naji received his Bachelor’s degree from Haverford College in philosophy, carrying out extensive academic research in the philosophy of math and the philosophy of physics during his time there. Naji mentors students in creating their own representation of the intellectual structure of the topic under consideration, which allows them to answer not only the question in front of them, but many different questions on the same topic.

James Sullivan

Assistant Center Director - @Home
If your student has an opportunity to work in our @Home environment, they will be lucky enough to meet James! James is one of our most experienced Mathnasium instructors, and leads all instructional staff in the @Home platform. James' educational background includes an undergraduate focus on pre-med, with some engineering courses mixed in. His attraction to math began at an early age, but has only grown as he's learned more about what has been accomplished with math. James believes that math can be appreciated through something as basic as realizing that smartphones wouldn't exist without it, to something as complex as the fascinating explanation of the physical world and it's natural forces. We are thrilled that James feels that working at Mathnasium has been one of the most rewarding jobs he's had! Getting to witness kids learn to develop an appreciation for math as their skills and confidence grow gives James hope for the future - as he truly feels that math has the potential to help solve many future world problems through its application in technology and medicine.

Our Mathnasium Mission

Teach children math so they understand it, master it, and love it. Math can change their lives, and they can change the world.

What I love about Mathnasium is the ability to teach problem-solving skills and make math make sense, while also making a student smile.
