Center Director
Jacob is the Center Director at Mathnasium of Lutz, where he is dedicated to helping students strengthen their math skills, build confidence, and develop a genuine love for learning, one concept at a time. Before stepping into this leadership role, Jacob taught math and guided students from elementary to Geometry and Pre-Calculus in high school.
Emily Bowling
Lead Instructor
Emily is a University of Florida graduate with a degree in Animal Science. She has been with Mathnasium for under a year and brings her strong work ethic and enthusiasm for teaching to every session. Emily hopes to become a large animal vet and currently volunteers at a local animal shelter.
Her favorite math topics include solving systems of equations and factoring. When she’s not helping students thrive in math, Emily is hanging out with her two huskies, Zeus and Apollo, or brushing up on world capitals—just in case she makes it onto The Amazing Race someday!
Timothy (TJ) Norwood
Instructor
TJ is studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of South Florida and has been with Mathnasium for more than two years. His favorite part of math is mental arithmetic, a Mathnasium staple that sharpens focus and builds number sense.
TJ brings creativity and fun to the center. In his free time, he enjoys video games, practicing origami, and solving quirky challenges—like memorizing a 20-digit phone pin. His favorite flavor? Peanut butter!
Christopher Norris
Instructor
Chris is a retired Chemistry professor, with degrees in Chemistry from Cornell College and the University of Colorado-Boulder. His hobbies include tennis, music, electronics, and gluten free baking. Chris' favorite thing about math is finding ways to do scientific calculations in his head. He has spent a summer hiking parts of the Appalachian Trail in every state that it passes through. He also once almost ran over Colorado governor Ray Romer on foot while carrying 2 4-liter bottles of concentrated hydrochloric acid, one in each hand!
David Khaidov
Instructor
David is a high school student pursuing an associate degree and will attend the University of Florida to study Finance. He enjoys the logical and problem-solving aspect of math, and is most interested in Trigonometry. At Mathnasium, David enjoys watching students’ confidence and enthusiasm for math grow as they learn new ways to think about problems. He creates a friendly and motivating atmosphere and encourages students to ask questions. Outside of academics, David enjoys playing basketball and hanging out with his younger brothers.
