Alexander has a degree in Cognitive Science and a minor in Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Through his classes there, he developed an interest in working in education and assisting students which he is now pursuing at Mathnasium. While in school, he has served as a teaching assistant on multiple occasions, and has always enjoyed the challenge of mathematics. In his free time, he enjoys watching television, jogging, and playing card games.
Ruby is a student at Alameda High School. Her favorite subjects include Math and English. She enjoys tutoring students in both subjects. In her spare time, she likes playing soccer, reading, and spending time with her friends and cats.
Sebastian is a senior at Alameda High School. His love for math began in elementary school, and he is always eager to learn more and teach math to anyone who wants to learn. Outside of school and work, Sebastian enjoys going on walks in nature, reading, playing guitar, listening to music, and exercising.
Jonah Chan is a homeschooled junior from Alameda. He has extensive experience in math, having achieved perfect scores on both the PSAT and SAT math sections, and placing in the top 25% on the AMC 10/12. In addition to math and analytical thinking, he enjoys playing the piano and exploring classical culture, including Latin and Greek. In his free time, he dabbles in music production. His favorite part of teaching—especially teaching math—is seeing the lightbulb go off on a student's face: the moment they truly understand the concept. He strives to guide students to find the answers on their own, helping them learn and apply problem-solving techniques independently.
Cayden is a junior at Alameda High School and a former Mathnasium student with a deep passion for math and science. His love for these subjects has been evident since elementary school, and he firmly believes that math should always be fun and enjoyable. Cayden has experience working with children aged 6 to 13 as a teaching assistant at Saint Anthony’s Religious School. Outside of Mathnasium, he enjoys playing tennis and basketball, listening to music, and spending time with friends.
Ellie Cheung is a senior at Alameda High School who has loved math since elementary school, inspired by her mom’s experience teaching math. She is passionate about sharing her enthusiasm for solving math problems with others and hopes to inspire students to enjoy the subject as much as she does. Outside of math, Ellie enjoys playing badminton, traveling to new places, and exploring different cuisines.
Ethan Haitsuka is a current Senior at Alameda High School. He was placed in an accelerated math program since the 7th grade and is currently enrolled in AP Calculus AB. Outside of school, Ethan plays games with his friends and creates content for his YouTube channel (as well as doing his Calculus homework).
Turner is a junior at Alameda High School. His favorite classes include Pre-Calculus and Physics. Math has always been his favorite subject ever since he learned how to utilize it to beat his friends at Magic The Gathering. He enjoys teaching math because he likes enabling students to use math throughout their lives the same way he does. Before joining Mathnasium, he received tutoring, which is what motivated him to work in that field. He hopes to major in physics. His activities include reading, building, and graphic design.
Iman has a degree in Computer Science from San Jose State University. While pursuing her education, she developed an appreciation for math, especially during the calculus series. Throughout her schooling, she took up many volunteer opportunities tutoring children in math and coding. In her free time she enjoys playing video games, cooking, yoga, and spending time with friends and family.
Alfredo Chavez holds a degree in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. His passion for mathematics and science was sparked in high school, where he participated in a program aimed at introducing underrepresented communities to the transformative power of STEAM education. The opportunities and resources from this experience inspired Alfredo to pursue a path in engineering, and he is now eager to apply his skills and knowledge in the field. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, coding, reading, and playing various types of games.
