About Me: Hello! I'm Tess Matkin, I am the Center Director of the Mathnasium of Alamo Heights. Creating a strong community of learners who become/continue to be confident mathematicians is what I strive for as a leader for our students. As someone who had a difficult time mastering certain areas of math throughout my K-12th grade years, I wish I had found a safe space like our center to rely on. We embrace different ways of thinking, creativity, and conceptualizing key ideas that guide our learners on how to find meaningful answers which leads to an ever-growing amount of self-confidence in their ability to problem solve.

My name is Maya, and I just graduated high school! I plan to be a Ultrasound Technician with in the next few years. My favorite part of working at Mathnasium is working with the kids and helping them understand/breakdown each of their math questions. If I had to pick a favorite number, it would be 444 because its always been my lucky number! (I see see it on the clock especially).

Hello! My name is Renee, and I am a senior in high school. I am originally from Taiwan, and have been living in the U.S. for two years now. I enjoy playing with my dog, Daisy as well as playing games, eating sweets, and sleeping whenever I can! My favorite mathematical concept is proving Trigonometry Identities. My favorite part of working at our center is communicating with the children and helping them learn while improving my English.

Hi! I'm Marie and I am a Senior at Alamo Heights High School. I'm on the varsity soccer team as a defensive player, and I love to read in my free time! My favorite number is 7 because its also been the number on my jersey when I'm playing my favorite sport. It also just feels lucky whenever I see it. Geometric Proofs are my favorite math concept to work on and teach because I enjoy the problem solving process and working out long equations. I love Mathnasium because I am so happy when I'm working with the kids and it also helps strengthen my own math skills!

Hi, I'm Aidan! I am currently taking a gap-year before heading off to college and pursuing a degree in Chemical Engineering. I also enjoy music and love playing my piano and violin in my spare time. My favorite number is 3 because its given me tons of luck throughout my life! My favorite math concept I enjoy working on is Integral Calculus. It was fun for me to learn in high school, and integrals have so may useful applications in science. I love Mathnasium because each and every learning plan ensures that students gain clarity in areas that they didn't have before.

Hi! My name is Petra and I am a Senior at Alamo Heights High School. Some of my favorite hobbies are reading and hanging out with my friends. My favorite number is 8 because it's always brought me good luck. In math, I enjoy working on integers and derivatives. They are so fun to practice and teach our learners. I love Mathnasium because its a fun, collaborative environment for everyone to learn something new about math!

Hi Everyone! My name is Morgan, and I am a Senior at UTSA! I'm studying English, and in my free time I love to read and go on walks through the trails surrounding us. My favorite number is 7, and my favorite math concept to work on is Order of Operations because it is the foundation to solving algebraic equations. I love Mathnasium because it provides a safe space for students to learn math and build on what they know.
